I use black kow in my bulk (1:1:1 by volume, coir:coarse Verm: black kow, add a little gypsum). I always pasteurize, as when I was nub I used it from the bag and got contams.
Don't believe it could've been spawn?

There is also a lot of variability among region and batches. Some have uncomposted little turds, rocks, sticks, wood chips, and others are very clean. Some sit out for months before being purchased, some get rained on.
It might have been spawn but I wouldnβt risk it again.
Iβm too stuck in my ways to just go CVG or straight coir. I kinda like mixing up the subs and pasteurizing in the oven and stuff.

My first grow has came in with about 200 pins between 2 shoeboxes. Am I going to end up with small fruits since theres so many pins?? Theres literally over 100 per box. I counted. I have 2 more starting to pin right now. I also have 3 pf tek cakes starting to pin. These pictures are from yesterday, and they've literally doubled or tripled in size since yesterday. Im pretty happy with it especially for my first time. I spawned 2:1 with coco and a light casing of 1:1 coco:verm. I kept lids on for 3 days, put into fruiting conditions, and had pins a couple days later. This picture is 3 days after the first pin. They really took off growing last night. I'll post a pic tomorrow or the next day when they're overflowing out of my tub

Third flush LGT. This might actually be the first set of tubs that are near 100% clean. I don't mean to boast a lot but a little bit. This tub was 500g first flush, then a handful of 20-40g fruits and this third flush around 300g. Spawn was 500ml Wheat and 2.5L. Almost a kg from 500ml spawn. This is how I figured it was near 100% clean spawn. First A2G (kind of first) and wauw performance with a random invitro clone.
300g third flush. Unfortunately I broke the substrate cause it fused to the tub. Never had this happen before. And I watered every day around the edges and on top.

And look how it fused on most of the bottom, EVEN THO I dunked it like a few days earlier and was alright then..

I have found a bottom water 3-4 days before harvest of the main portion of a flush to help carry it a little, but IMO, the mycelial networks are the limiting factor in that they can only move so much water...you could end up with small fruit, or some aborts and typical fruit... either way, the yield will be similar due to the amount of nutrition available, and the rate of water flow (from osmosis or whatever the mechanism may be)are uniform in either scenario:the substrate will only support so much growth at one time

I've got 4 shoe boxes going and just got my first pins on bulk this week. Took 15 days from sub to pins. I've started becoming worried about surface conditions because the tubs can look dry. After I mist them it always looks like they are too wet. Any feedback on how they look, if I should be misting, or if I should keep the lids snapped shut or opened at this point?

Do very light mistings, and don't be afraid to allow evaporation to occur between mistings... sounds like the surface is matting, if it seems dry, a shallow bottom water may serve you (and the substrate)

I've only been using it when I transition my subs outdoors. I've had some burly fruits using that stuff. Was thinking about trying to spawn some pan cyans to it. Because I fucking hate prepping poo subs.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing how this goes for you. Iβve got my first pan grow in the works, too - cleaning my agar culture and trying to find some good poo to use.

Seems decent clones are few and far, and I end up with less than average MS performance... I've been happy with one of ~a dozen? MS has the added advantage of displaying potential lol
