Well, after 4 miserable shoeboxes trying every method in this thread (flip the lids, crack the lids, mist, fan) I can't get my culture to pin properly under those circumstances to save my life. No offence intended this is a great thread, just mean it won't work in my home with this culture. Essentially my culture has a VERACIOUS metabolism, couple that with a dry home and I have either a dud or a winner depending on how you look at it. It metabolizes so quickly it fills my shoebox with CO2 so I have to basically choose between low fae or low rh... I chose low rh in the end lol With such a small sub and a dry atmosphere my sub shrinks during pinning. Then I'm growing side pins and bottom pins because my RH is so low that I have to over mist to compensate for a shrinking sub so early into pinning. Then my sub surface obviously becomes unhappy because I'm drowning it making my problem even worse, or my pins crack and some abort because of too much fae not enough rh.
This all happens over the course of a day or so with this culture in my environment. I'm basically robbing Peter to pay Paul at the expense of any performance out of the culture. This is a winning culture though I really think It has potential being MS LC in a 1:1 rye:coir with no additives except gypsum. If I can get it to perform better out of the gate and let it run I think I'll clone and see what it can do
To help take the side/bottom pins out of the equation for sure I used a liner. My next two shoeboxes getting ready to go in the sgfc and are being put to the test in my environment. No liners, lids flipped to evap then mist/fan to remove the heavey CO2 that sinks between hyphae on the surface and let it evap without the lid. Rise wash and repeat till I have stuff to do, then drop it in the sgfc to finish up once my pinset comes in to accelerate the process.
sgfc for me = FAE, RH, and proper surface moisture because of the rapid evaporation caused by the sgfc design. Everything a mushroom could need!... Besides I can fit two shoeboxes in my sgfc and not dubtub so I can make more shoeboxes! With all due respect I'm finally getting somewhere, really want to keep going this direction just to see what happens, can't be worse than bottom pins lol
Latest shoebox: Looking like my ritual is working so far, not optimal but working. Knots, on the surface... not the bottom! lol Try not to stare, they're underage! These are the bins without liners btw...

When it doesn't work you can be the first to say "I told you" deal? I really do appreciate you helping me out though, good to know we're all in it together-ish.
P.S. Nice caps... Holy cow. Going to have to read your thread.
P.P.S I already see that shearing some of my working ideas and tweeks along my journey might have a negative effect on this thread. Please forgive that. Just vocalizing what works in my house, not what will work for you in yours!

A PES Hawaiian clone taken from my 5th flush on my first grow. Know better now not to take clones from so far down the line.

2qts of RGS in a shoebox yielded me 354g on the first flush! I think I have enough mushrooms for myself for about a year...and yet I’m still growing!!!

Caps, maybe grow out that ape after they leave? I haven't tried them yet but never heard something bad about them. Other than low yield. But that can easily be fixed by spawning a lil more than usual. Or more tubs lol
Oh haha u said lets see them. One moment.
