I can't wait to get these shoeboxes up and running. I plan on running 6 shoeboxes of MS PE cleaned on agar to hopefully get some good genetics. I'll post updates this weekend when I spawn since jars were shaken last night. Also might try some different casing methods and what not as some side experiments.

Thank you mushboy for starting this thread! Not sure if I would have stumbled upon these if you didn't. This is my first attempt and so far I'm loving it.

slightly bacterial but its no biggy. you can leave the lids on. make sure that gh isnt sealed up. all my shit is out on wire racks. no 'house' tarp or whatever.
i like to flip the lids to increase air flow to aid in evaporation. you can dry out the surface so keep a mister bottle handy and keep the surface glistening with moisture. the extra care will be rewarded with denser pinsets. once the pins come grow to about half an inch i lay off misting and i 'bottom water' by pouring in maybe a half a shotglass worth of water into a corner and tilt the shoebox around so the water does not pool on the surface. :
evaporation is a good thing. your ambient conditions(room temp and whatnot) will determine how much misting is needed. basically keep it just the way they look now and you should see a good pinset
..or leave the lids on and they will fruit. but i find the extra care gives extra shroomies.

automation is for pussies.
those look really good though. nice work. post pics of the flushes.

its easy to keep up with them if you are around. my new job allows me to work whenever i want and im always min from home if i need to be.. and my wife is my boss life goals.
heres some shit that i dried out to much. you can see the bruising. its almost greenish in the pics.
the one on the right dried out way to much. and had funky mutants.
better.

also better but if you zoom in you can see the blueish hue

i just plain fucked this one up
then i over saturated with misting. they look all wet and shit. but they were dense as f

learn as you go. its only a small shoebox. not a beast mono

I wish I could be around all the time my job requires me too have a car and I kinda don't so it's very difficult to be home as I use a friend's car and end up at his place half the week. He's been sick so finding a ride home is difficult.
I've had an entire tub green because of my Saturday night I noticed the trich and didn't have time to get rid of it and was home for like 4 days
Oh well.

Sad part for me is I started with mono's and had most of my failures with them. I've tossed MANY mono's in my day, and did the shoebox in mono thing later on kinda by accident. As things progressed, I basically switched to pure shoeboxes in monos. Kinda wish I started with trays tbh, it's a lot less to throw out lol, which you get sad to do after you toss 20+ tubs at once.

I definitely feel you on that mad. Wish I would of started with shoeboxes.
My first was a 115qt mono (I think) best tub I've ever produced.

This! I have 10 of my 25 QT mini mono's and now have 10 shoeboxes so that's perfect. I figure 1qt spawn to 1.5 sub and if they hit the shoebox lid I got the mini monos. Plus the 3 64qt lol. Need more shoeboxes, and maybe at some point a Martha lol. Years ago I did a half ass Martha using a Vicks water vaporizer and some misting. They did as good as any thing else I did LOL.

I kinda think we should re place of pf tek with shoe boxes and make them move up form there. Starting off with shoe boxes, then pf then bluck trays , then monotubs, the straw bricks, the bathtub grows, the massive straw log, then kiddie pool grow and last the 1/3 yard azure grow.

ha. i dont know about that. but i think shoeboxes should be a precursor to doing monos.
even though some people can just jump right into monos and rock out.. especially newer people but i know i sure as shit couldnt.

I gave this shoebox to my friend and went over last night, he dropped the tub but it's still pushing out fruits 6-7 weeks in, 5th flush if you'd call it that. Looks gross
