This is my first grow which consisted of 12 pf tek cakes total. Two fell to trich with the other 10 remaining viable. Once fully colonized, I shredded 3 cakes to 1 shoebox and had one that I fruited in the jar. I did a 1:1 ratio with pasteurized coir. The only thing I really did differently between the shoeboxes was two had normal lids and the one pictured had a clear reuseable food cover with holes instead of grocery bags (I couldn't get the bags to fit correctly without tearing).

I can honestly say that I have learned a ton so far using these teks. I still don't know shit. I seem to have a hard time finding the right balance for surface conditions. I have some bruising on the other shoeboxes due to too much FAE, but live and learn.
Hopefully the other boxes come around eventually, they have only a few small mushrooms and pins, but maybe that will change with patience.
Since starting, I've purchased a PC and all the things for agar. I've inoculated a sleeve of plates using the dog food agar tek. My plan is to go agar>agar>whole grains>coir(both shoeboxes and unmodified mono).
I picked up the correct tub for Bod's unmodified mono's, so I'll try that along with shoeboxes once the next run is underway.
Just figured I'd share this here since this is the thread I've been following the most.

Tub 1 and 2 looked like they were drying out on the edges so I closed the lid after about 5 days. The all 3 are moving slowww. I think the sub was too wet. Do these guys have any hope? What should I do? I cracked tub 1 again today.
1. Tubs 1 and 2 have this piss like yellow on the sides of the tubs.

2. Tub 1 surface
3. Tub 2 Surface

4. Tub 3 Surface

Can anyone else chime in here? What is the thinking behind flipping the lids? At what point should I consider a dunk?
Patience my friend... and increased FAE

I spawned 1qt wbs into 2 qts of cvg into some shoeboxes. Mixed them up real good and let them sit sealed in garbage bags for a couple of days. No casing layer. After checking today half of them have trich . Is this most likely due to the heat? It had been pretty hot these last couple of days.

Heat doesn't cause trich, but it can make it easier for it to take over more rapidly. Your problem was your spawn

Couple more boxes
The 1 pint shoebox I had been updating photos of shit the bed and was all side pins.. major clusters all on the sides. It was one of several that had issues with the surface conditions, I believe largely because I was using 1 pint, needed more coir to hold in moisture, and high temps. Shoulda photo'd it anyway but I already harvested.. I'll do some more 1 pint shoeboxes correcting my issues. I've done great 1 pint boxes but I guess it was during colder months and also a different set of genetics.

Weird went from master to 10 different jars. Other tubs are looking fine. . Just have to wait and see. I also have been reading that some people put their tubs into fruiting right after they spawn. Does that mean they skip the step where you leave them in garbage bags to colonize? Wouldn't that increase chances of getting contams?

I don't really know what you're talking about with the garbage bags...
Old tek?

Maybe? I've always kept my tubs wrapped in garbage bags for a couple of days after spawning to bulk. After about 90% colonized introduced fae. Guess that's an old tek? Honestly haven't done bulk for about 8 years so it's possible that step is obsolete.

Oh ok.. I thought you were saying you dumped the sub into a trash bag and let it colonize in the bag
Yeah the trash bag is old news, no need for that
Just put your sub into your tub, and its your choice if you let it colonize before introducing FAE.
Technically it is already receiving FAE either way because the lid is not air tight
Contams are not affected by this either way - it makes no difference.

My first grow ever using 2 sb's made of hpoo with 3 ms ksss brf cakes shredded into each spawned on 6/22. Where the pins have formed it seems to be in big clusters. I noticed so fuzzy feet today on some of the fruits so I'm going to up FAE. The pinset isn't very uniform

Not seeing any "fuzzy feet" in the pictures.
Try casing it next time.

First big harvest on something other than cakes. So happy with how they turned out! MS syringe to WBS then 1:1 with coir.

I did a pseudo-casing at spawn with the same substrate I used. Here is a better pic so you can see what I'm talking about

Ehhh...give it some more air regardless, but all cube mushies will have that to an extent regardless.
