I am also curious now. I get this picture in my mind of octopus arm myc crashing up and borrowing through the sub Tremors style.

Dudes trippin.
It'll be fine.
Nothing can be done about it so just ride it out, the mushrooms don't give a fuck if the surface is flat, only thing it potentially does is create spots where there will be more water droplets or less or water accumulation, yeah?
Dont stress it bro. Just watch for water accumulation in the valleys

I harvested that first box (posted yesterday) for about 1.5 oz (it was between 1.5-2 qt spawn) and let the one in the back grow out into this

And harvested this guy with him this morning

More shoebox's to come....
Happy trails friends

Anyone have any experience with using 16 -20 qt tubs in the shoebox style? My local store had a great deal going on 16 and 20 quart tubs so I picked a bunch up in hopes of using them the same as shoeboxes.
Just wondering if anyone has tips or tricks for these sizes.

Waiting on pins. Slightly larger shoebox pre-dubbed

Looking good pixel! Thanks for easing my mind. I knew it could be done just wanted to know if I should do the pasty tek where holes are set up or if it can just be a set and almost forget shoebox.

You can do full sized mono tubs without any holes. No problem with these

16qt boot box next to a shoebox.
I treated it exactly the same as a shoebox, but I never dubbed it. 2nd flush.(first flush was all blobs )

Here are different angles of the tray in question:

It is not easy trying to photograph topography! Anyways that's it. I'm not really concerned about it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this phenomenon. To give some background: Coir was was level at the time of assembly. The tray was then left outside where bulk sub was taken over my mycelium in about 3 days. Temps averaged btwn mid 70's to low 90s and humidity between 50-90%. Tray is now indoors with lid cracked for fruiting

You're saying that super uneven surface is from the myc pushing it up?

Unless I'm delusional, I believe that's from mycelial growth

You know what, if I'm the only one experiencing this, it's likely I mishandled it at some point. Don't mind me folks

Yeah I can't imagine that happening to a leveled out surface from just myc growth. I thought you were originally just talking about some spikey myc that was rhizo/aerial but those lumpy, very uneven edges indicate it wasn't even close to flat at spawn

Super strange. I'm actually wondering if it was very loose in some areas and is compacting a little.

Could it not be from pieces of coir that werent hydrated properly, took in moisture, and expanded? I doubt it was the myc.
@Pixel you got so many boxes you're forgetting about some ?

Stellar!
I too have noticed the shoeboxes that get left alone after spawning often end up outperforming the rest

I wouldn't say I'm so much forgetting about some boxes as much as I am just putting them on the bottom of stacks or in the back and not checking on them. But yeah, I have enough to where I can do this easily
The caps are a bit dark and I'm worried that the flush will abort out like several other boxes.. still getting used to this variety and how dark the caps should look at this stage. Trying to work out what went wrong with all my boxes - have a few ideas about it and hopefully future ones will go better.
