Thanks for the kind words guys,
It looks like I might need to try a liner next time though here’s another tote starting that side pin bs

And here’s a shot of a lonely equador mushroom. This variety so far has been weird the caps don’t really open and they just sit like this

Yeah I wouldn't use a liner just because I want to see my sides and bottom

A liner wont do anything to prevent side pins on a first flush that the sides of the tub aren't already doing.

I thought they stopped side pins. The sub moves away from the side of the tub and I figured a liner moves with the sub. I need to just create better surface conditions but idk why they're showing up now and not my first grows. Beginners luck I guess

I'm confused? I'm aware they still grow with a liner. But a lot less. I was just being sarcastic. He said he was gonna use a liner cuz he had a lot of side pins. Sorry, sarcasm doesn't apply in text.

but the point is to have zero side pins. which isnt that hard. id love to peel back all the liners from people who push them and just see for myself how effective they are. i bet id see a shitload of sidepins

I never really understood why a liner would stop side pins. I know the stated reason, but it doesn't seem like it would work. I've never tried it though so who knows

the only stated reason i know that doesnt sound like BS is eliminating the gap between sub and wall. cause the liner clings to the shrinking sub.
but blocking light or air or whatever else is a bunch of poop.

It just slows it down. I always use liners just for easy clean up in my monos. But it definitely restricts airflow to the surface of the sides of ur substrate. There IS still side pins. But it helps.

Ever since I started doing shoeboxes I’ve never used a liner. I’ve always had side/bottom pins though not sure if it would be any different with a liner... I just got to work on my surface conditions. My two shoeboxes now are pinning on top so far :knockonwood:

How much does it help versus maybe those tubs wouldn't have side pinned anyway? When side pinning is a big problem it happens while the sub is still up against the wall... there already isn't much air flow

give yourself more credit. that 'help' is from you, the cultivator, giving proper conditions.
loose the crutch and give yourself credit when do! not the plastic bag
i only have issues with cleanup when a tub is moldy. solution? dont let tubs get fuckin moldy otherwise subs just shrink and turn into a dried out husk that gets dumped in the trash leaving a few crumbs behind. wipe out tub with a iso rag or something and load back up with the next round
