Kenetic said: I wouldnt open a shoebox like that. I could be wrong but they get plenty of fae with the lid on
just leave the lids on. once the surface colonizes a bit i flip the lids and keep the surface looking good. but ive also left the lids during the whole cycle. i can get denser pin sets when i flip the lids and mist.
both work great.

Yeah, don't clone a clone. Unless blobs are your thing. Print a clone and clone multispore.

Exactly need at least 30. One for each day of the month.

Yeah I need a lot more myself. Hoping these go good, if so I have no problem doing one quart per basket until I get my stuff down good.

Right, I would rather spawn many small tubs to cut down on my losses. I did one flush and will toss my shoeboxes because the spawn was contaminated, BUT they at least produced better cause they could colonize faster.

do they?

mini mono made with 3 quarts 1:1
shoeboxes made with 1 quart each pinned 3 days later and took a day longer to grow mini was quicker.
but its nice to keep contams contained. i put them outside. sometimes they explode with fruits... or in green spores

I love my shoeboxes. They're really cool man and I just on a whim decided to try them yesterday when I posted. Glad I did.
The uncased one is colonziong mega fast. Wishing now I had done them all that way and cased later. Not sure the pros/cons of casing and immediately fruiting. I think you all call it a "pseudo" casing now. Just lightly covered the grains. Nothing deep.

Yeah I have no idea about the correct terminology, so far I just mix up the grains and coir then put like a 1/8inch layer of just coir to cover all the grains. I'm gonna try just mixing up the sub and not doing a layer on my next boxes.
I leave the lids snapped on through colonization and also when they pin and dubtub when the fruits get too big. I keep them all in my bedroom on shelves where I have fans going at different speeds and at different times of the day (for my comfort not the shrooms cuz its fuckin texas) they seem to need a mist every 12 hours or so once they start fruiting. I started getting worked up about it and moving them to the closet at night but that's too much work.
I had thought of making a mono to place these in but they do just fine without and don't look nearly as out of place as a monotub does. I pulled 3 oz's out of 1.5qt of spawn across 2 flushes in one box so I'm happy, no reason to make adjustments.

Right on man enjoyed reading that post. My boxes look, knock on wood, still pretty moist after 24 hours from spawn. If it changes, i can deal with misting once daily no problem. I have these in a corner of a kitchen counter, and albeit not normal looking, it certainly isn't a poly or micropore stuffed monotub. I'm really digging the simplicity and easy for a noob one quart to 1, 1.5. I can't get my stuff down, so this is perfect for me to isolate and have my problems labeled and organized. If all the LCG2G fail, but my regular LC masters go good, I can figure my G2G wasn't smooth, etc.
Also, seems like this would be great for single quart clone test runs, yeah?
