Eh, whatever. I’m bored and dishonesty rubs me the wrong way, especially when you have several posts where you’re discussing spawn...hurts your credibility and folks might think you’re a As to your question, It might be a tad on the wet side. Did you hydrate the sub to field capacity? Also, looks like you have some bruising in there which is weird at this stage and may be in response to a contam (or the crumbling of the cake).

At the 6th day of colonization. Just wanted to ask y'all how everything looks. Mycelium strands seem to be sticking straight up through the 1/4" top layer (pseudo casing) without colonizing other parts of the substrate. I wasn't expecting this, thought there would be a more thorough colonization of the other parts before reaching the surface.

Wait wait wait. I understand the confusion now.
When Mycolorado asked "Isn't this your thread?" I thought he was referring to THIS CURRENT THREAD we are speaking in. I did not even register the link below his question. I must be stoned as shit.
And, to specify, I understand that "spawning" means "putting colonized substrate into another substrate." I do not actually know what "spawn" means, whether it refers to the "colonized substrate" (in this case brf cake) or the "new substrate" (in this case verm/coir).
I guess I just need to be more specific about my questions.
And no I'm not a c/o/p, are you out of your mind. How could I incriminate you by asking for advice about my own situation. I've never asked someone for photos of their house or grow or their location or anything like that; read my entire post history.
As for the bruising, yes, that occurred immediately during crumbling. I was surprised by how much bruising there was.
Now I'm noticing that the above-ground part of the box is too dry, but the spawned(?) layer beneath the coir/verm barrier is too wet. Maybe I should just lightly mist the sides of the box and not the coir?

Yea, that's some rhizomorphic shit.
Do you think it's ready for increased FAE and fruiting conditions?

Spawn is the jar of colonized whatever that you spawn to sub. Sub is the coir and verm or whatever that gets spawn added to it.
Once you spawn a jar of grain or whatever and mix with sub, that will never be referred to as spawn. Basically if you're beginning the life cycle and not going g2g to increase spawn it's referred to as sub.
Spawn and coir Verm in a shoebox and colonized is the sub.
Hopefully that makes sense cause I spent a lot of my high typing it out

What variety am I looking at? I'm guessing PESA because sometimes the ropes on mine are genuinly weird to look at, almost like it has roots , not hyphae

I’m not getting any real flushes in this one it’s just kind of growing as it pleases. I have pins going while I just harvested some yesterday and still have some maturing it’s at like all 3 stages of growth
And it seems this next shoebox will be full of side pins also. It’s showing knots on the sides but not on the tops

Idk why I did so much better on my first grow.

Yea, PESA. I'm assuming it will branch out to colonize other parts of the substrate? Bizarre it just goes through the top layer.
