Side pins are not the worse thing that could happen, maybe leaving it alone would be the best thing to do.

I could leave them be I just don’t want them to rot. I’ll post a pic in a second of the wicked bottom pins. Probably is better to leave them until the top is ready though.

Probably take awhile to actually rot, I've had full grown mushrooms grow flat under my sub and they were fine.

Yea, id leave them till your dunk after the first flush. It could shrink enough so that it would be easy to flip suspended in water, than you can remove them easily .

I've tore subs up by trying to get those.I just leave them now, they'll grow out with the rest, and won't rot that fast. They may even grow upwards and make it easier to harvest later.

You can watch the sidepins for bacteria growth and pick if they start to look too bad. But yeah usually you can let them be for a good while

Yeah mine are starting to turn blue I just don’t know how to get to them with out messing up the top coming in. I think it’s probably better just to leave them the two or three days it will take for the top to mature into full shrooms

If they don't start growing bacteria, they aren't going to do any harm staying till you're ready. If they do, the bacteria could potentially spread around

Harvested most of 4 boxes just now which I had posted photos of before.
Not sure what exactly went wrong here. Pinsets came in on all boxes like a mother, prob the best I've ever seen in my own boxes. Surface moisture was excellent except all 4 corners on all the boxes dried up to the point where eventually fresh myc started to fuzz over them during fruiting... but surface was still excellent everywhere else. Shortly after the fruits started growing out, many started to open caps and most of the rest began to look like aborts with pointy, darkened caps. I've never had problems with fruits aborting at this size before. Still no signs of contam or bacteria in the boxes.
I stayed totally hands off on these and never misted, but they didn't seem to need it at all aside from the dried up corners.
Hopefully 2nd flushes will be better.
Another one I'm waiting to see which way it goes:

I followed the directions exactly, and used Damion5050's bucket tek for the substrate. But the substrate turned out super chunky and thick. It doesn't break up super well. Is this a problem? All of my proportions were correct.

I always stir it up at the 30 min mark and hour. Then check field capacity with my hand and if I still find chucks break them up and stir again.

Its a lot easier to break it up while its still hot. When its cooled down, it becomes harder to pull it apart. I usually mix it up as much as my fingers can stand it around 1 hour and then come back for another mix up a bit later

Well shit. The remaining substrate was nice and soily but the stuff I actually used was chunky. Am I screwed?

Just break it up before you spawn, if you already spawned it should be fine

Damn. Got some green-hued growth along that back wall in one of my tubs. Looks like it's intermingled with the mycelium.

Went MS syringe to grain so I wasn't expecting everything to go perfectly. Am I gonna be able to salvage a first flush out of this thing?

I should have harvested this 2nd flush 2 days ago. I never unlatched the lid and just left them for a few days. The mushrooms just fell off the sub,and had that wild find over ripe "feel" to them.(kinda brittle) Still a decent 2nd flush harvest.
