I dont know if this is a dumb question but if he were to clone from one of the supposedly meager second flushes, and transfer, spawn, and make another round of shoeboxes, would that encourage better 2nd/nth flushes? Does the flush number affect future flushing, assuming the same methodology/conditions/substrates?

Day 2 :

Day 3

Day 7:

Definitely colonizes slower with only a pint, and the growth starts to look very light on the surface, almost like a mold. I think I may start either mixing in additional coir or doing a coir-casing layer on top because they start to dry out faster than the higher spawn boxes.

I'm pretty happy with how my 9 shoeboxes turned out, at first I thought they were all going to be blobs. After the first flush I started getting half blobs half shroom hybrids and now I'm getting some normal looking penis envy.

Takes me two quarts to pull 2 zip fkushes (more like 1.5 quarts the way I prep jars but still)
Usually I can pull at least another oz in flush two and three, maybe more, hard to remember. I'll find out again soon

Okay so I Screwed these two shoeboxes I have now and have a bunch of side and bottoms pins. How do I harvest those? It’s starting to pin decently on top now but all of those bottom ones need to be plucked off. I don’t want to flip the sub and mess up all of the top pins.

You can fill it with water and let it float up and then just tilt it so the sides are facing up towards you. I mean if you push down on one side it will make the other side bob up while suspended in water.

Is this in between flushes or your first flush? I'm not sure if it would over hydrate your bulk sub. I know when I'm harvesting I fill it with water, but I don't know if doing it before your substrate dries out a little if it would be too much water.

Yeah I was just thinking that. This is the first flush so I’m hoping if I floated it that it would not over saturate the substrate. Or even cause more bottom pins by giving more moisture to the bottom then the top. I think the second flush will be less side/bottom if I do it right. I can flip the sub out of the box but I would mess up the top pins.
