leaving stumps doesn't really matter.. it will just myc over eventually
You want a level surface for ideal conditions in general, and also you don't want to damage your sub by tearing it up, so both of these ideas factor into clean harvesting
But I don't usually worry much about it as long as I got a solid first flush
You say that myc will eventually go over those stump, does that mean shrooms can grow over those stump after ?

Hey SebQC are those the huautla still? They look great! I have a huautla syringe in the fridge
I've always left stumps, and I've noticed that they will first fuzz over with mycelium, and then knots and pins will begin to form ontop of some of them. Personally tho most of my fruits just pop up around the stumps, however some definitely do grow ontop of them.

Ya bro, they are still from my first grow, on third flush now lol, i dunno whats that gonna give nothing to lose hehe.
Also, i have 6 more shoeboxes on the way, Huautla again, 3 of them spawn with WBS and another 3 from Oats. That first batch was with rye berries spawn. Testing
BUT i have some AA+ albino and some PE that i cant wait to try, the rye is soaking

I still have some work to do to achieve an even pinset, but it's not nothing!
Brazil multispore, 1.5 q rye spawn, 1.5 q cvq, .5q casing layer, spawned 5/15

Try cloning from a cluster for better pinset

Thanks man, Yeah I put the sub back in the box for a day and just hydrated them to try for a second flush.

Keep pumping them out! Ill be behind waiting for my spawn to colonize I have to keep it in rotation so I can just pump them out like your doing. It will be interesting to see which spawn does best for you.

Cool I'm planning on doing just that!
I swear there are people on here posting insane pinsets with multispore, but maybe most of those awesome pinsets are clones?

Canopies with MS are not uncommon.
But you never know exactly how its going to grow - there's always a chance of poor genetics restricting performance with MS

All 3 of mine were multispore and had pretty nice canopies. Maybe it’s due to the spawn? I used milo which offers plenty of inoculation points but idk if that has anything to do with pinset. I do know within six days from mixing with my substrate that I already had pins but I might have just gotten lucky.

there are several variables related to a poor pin set and bad genetics via random MS is one possibility
it can go any direction, although i've had way more good results with MS than bad

That’s good to hear because I have a lot of syringes to work through. I got excited on my last order and now I’m trying to learn agar. So these syringes have to be used up at some point

how long do shoeboxes typically take to colonize?
how long after colonization until they fruit?

At a 1:2 or 1:1 spawn to sub ratio, the same as every other bulk method, 4 to 14 days for colonization and 7 to 24 days for pins.

I had a couple questions about bootboxes for anyone who's been using them. They're 7 inches deep, so at a 3 inch sub depth, they probably aren't quite tall enough to avoid having to dubtub right? And how many quarts of combined sub and spawn do you put in it?

Oh really?
I personally would be upping fae at this point.
I increase FAE when I start getting a bunch of fruits like your tubs and I mist.
FAE will help get some bigger boomers imo vs having them get taller and skinny.
Just don't overdue the increase or the misting until you get it down.
I would probably have the lid flipped and set on top waiting for the need to dub from being too big. Thats just me
Yeah I didn’t know when or how I should increase FAE with the shoeboxes. Might be a little late for one they’re already getting tall and skinny. So you just flip it upside down like this

Dude they look fine, don't change a thing, you have some good looking specimens, flipping the lid is all I would do. I have seen the grow big, from my finger tips to my elbow long with cap 8 inches wide.

Thanks bro, those ones finished already they did stay small but I’ll keep experimenting I’m more then happy with the turn out for my first grow!
This was then I posted them somewhere in here before

I ended up with around 54 grams dry from all three tubs so around 18 dry average each.
