Update on my first shoebox!

I unsnapped lid after first pin and set it on top. Debating on dub tub now or wait till fruits touch the lid?

Nice pinset dood! I always wait til they start pushing on the lid, but that's just me. You won't hurt anything by dubbing now. Some might argue that the dub tub style grows better because the shrooms get more light through the clear tub vs the white lid.

I don't dub tub until the caps start hitting the lid, but honestly it's up to when to do it.

woke up to all of my boxes having these blue/green areas.. at first glance I thought it may be the green devil, but couldn't tell for sure since it wasn't on the surface, but rather under the top layer of mycelium. I went ahead and gave them a morning mist (usually mist once a day and have started leaving the lids off) and they everything is very blue now, not as green.

Is it bruising? should I stop misting? Should I not remove the lids entirely?

So you guys think this spawn bag should be ready to spawn to some shoeboxes this weekend? Looks ready to me but it is my first bag. Iāve been weary of this thing since the get go I think it may be semi bacterial but recovered super quick after I broke it up and shook. Anyway Iām planning to do it soon but not sure if itās āfully colonizedā just shook about four days ago and now itās completely white so I assume so....

Bruising from water pooling it seems. Stop misting

Looks fully colonized and slightly bacterial. Spawn it to coir prepped slightly drier than usual, and soon. Looks like you can get 3-4 shoeboxes out of that

Will do! Thanks. First time doing a PE.. Didn't case it, so the blobs make the things look dry.
Can too much direct sunlight cause bruising also? I have them near a window and I think they got some intense light yesterday evening

Light doesn't cause bruising, over misting does. Direct sunlight is no bueno, they aren't plants. I'd get them away from the window

Yes I actually discovered this for my self with one of my first shoebox grows by leaving it near a window which got bright sunlight during the afternoon. The my. Yellowed and matted up and didnāt fruit in that area until subsequent flushes

Yeah I think itās slightly bacterial but Iām spawning anyway lol I appreciate your response Iāll spawn it tomorrow and get the coir ready tonight for tomorrow morning!
Itās a 3 pound bag and I think supposed to be 3 quarts. I was thinking doing one quart per shoebox so 3 shoeboxes total.

Thanks Enkidu. I did add a top layer of CV when I spawned, about 1/4 - 1/2 in.
Side Note: I read your 200g tea report and it was fascinating. Thanks for sharing and hope you're feeling better man.
I shouldn't need to mist or anything until fully colonized right? How much light and of what type would you recommend for cubes? Should I only add light when fully colonized or when I see first pins? Thanks for help everyone.

It probably yellowed and matted up because it dried up in that spot, as a result of heating up from the direct sunlight. (Not a cause of the light itself)
There are a few different things that can cause bruising, and sometimes it just happens

Hey Pixel, I saw your post about using less spawn and being surprised with the results. Just Curious, what's the least amount of spawn you've used in a 6qt shoebox. I spawned mine a few days ago with only 1/2 q and I'm hoping it will still fruit decent.
