They look confused haha
Light does not guide mushrooms as it does with plants. Plants conduct photosynthesis, and so, they have evolved to maximize their exposure to light in such a way. Mushrooms don't do that. They have circadian rhythms, and sense light in the same fashion as the human pineal gland senses light. But, like humans, mushrooms breath in oxygen and exhale Co2. Likely, a combination of genetics and low levels of oxygen cause the mushroom to "seek" fresh air.
Kind of incorrect. Mushrooms do not use photosynthesis, but they are phototropic. They will seek light if it is directional.

I'm not certain what it is for cubes, but only some species of mushrooms are phototropic. The majority of mushrooms are negatively gravitropic except in the hymeniphore which produce a positive response to the tropic stimulus of gravity (move toward gravity). Yet, (that same majority), display no signs of phototropic behavior. Obviously this is concerning "agaric" mushrooms, and is to ensure maximum spore dispersal.

And, it appears you are right. Cubes are indeed phototropic.

Seems like the surface dries out in less than 12 hours. Thankfully I have the chance to mist every 8. They're growing fast, dense clusters in some spots. What even is bottom watering when it comes to subs, and is it necessary? I still have the lids snapped on tight. I think they get enough FAE with a fan always running in the room (for my sake, not the shrooms)

wrong they most definitely grow towards light. I looked at your history, doesn't look like you have much experience with cultivation. its probably better if you resign to listening instead of talking until you at least get a few grows under your belt.

boogawho said: One of my cakes is beginning to show pins.. only problem is that they seem to be growing down towards the perlite. From what I've read this is due to the RH being higher in the lower part of the FC. Is this correct?
No, it isn't. Sometimes they turn toward the perlite because it's reflecting light, and they grow towards light. If it looks like the cap is going to go into the perlite, slip a small piece of foil in the way to keep the cap clean. RR

We don't have photoreceptors but we get vitamin D from exposure to light.
Looks like that ones just a bit stupid

nobody said any such thing they will grow towards the light but also against gravity and also towards fae, away from shit in there way like walls, this is there tropic response system at work jeebus man

Read that, the pineal gland has photoreceptors. I didn't have to conduct an experiment to find an answer. AND, I had already stated that cubes are indeed phototropic. BUT, not ALL mushrooms are.

After your first flush should you mist heavily or fill it up with water to rehydrate the unmodified tub?
