Last time i was growing a couple years ago...everyone was obsessed with FAE and was nonstop spouting how important it was. Now FAE is just leaving a lid on? What the hell?
That leave me perplex too...
People say shoebox arent air tight, but most full size mono arent either
Try it out! The proof is in the pudding. I have found that my mini mono and shoeboxes work just fine unmodded.

Can't wait for these three to fruit hope they'll be ready for a camping trip next Wednesday but if all else fails got some chocolates stashed away

Thanks guys. Spawned 4/24 so I'm expecting them to take off tomorrow or the day after. I just leave the lid on until the the second or third day of pinning and then dub it so they don't hit the lid while I'm at work or anything. With these three shoeboxes I have given them a single trigger pull on my mister once a day for the past four days because field capacity was a tiny bit off and the surface was slightly dry as a result. More often than not, though, I don't mist before the first flush.

If you put a open bag of chips in a shoebox they will go stale. Fae is super important so don't seal up your totes.
It may not be airtight but it's almost airtight. It's like putting a cap on a gallon of milk. It's basically airtight.
Man mush cult has changed a lot over the years. People are doing shoeboxes with no air exchange while being borderline smug with kind of shitty pinsets.
Mush cult used to be about awesome pinsets..humble people and great advice.

To be fair, a lot of older threads I've browsed have smug comments as well but in regards to shoeboxes, there are ridges set up on the shoebox lid to allow air flow. It is supposed to be for shoe storage so Sterilite designed it so shoes can breathe and won't get super gnarly in a container.

That's the beauty of the shoeboxes...you can literally grow mushies to completion with the lids on
It's really set it and forget it growing.

So...my 1st tub came in fast and furious...best tub so far! subsequent tubs have been less impressive...just not as good of a pinset...
After last time I have laid off the misting Trying to spawn and not mist at all until 1st flush comes in... I would say over all things are better than my 1st run but would really like to improve my pin set....
Just kind of wondering why that 1st hub absolutely killed it and others didn't do quite as well..is this just MS genetics?....
The other thing I did different this time was immediately stack them near the fruiting light after spawn as opposed to setting them on the other side of the room to colonize for a little while...would that affect pinset?
Thanks for feedback

Bill comes to the party a dollar short and a day late talking about pre sterilized compost and how shoeboxes OBVIOUSLY don't get adequate fae.... he hasn't even read the first page. Then spouts off some boomer tier insults on people doing their first bulk grows and using that as proof that shoeboxes are sub optimal fruiting chambers.

Some nasty PE 1 quart: 1 quart coir spawned on 5/2

I’ll be busting out a ruler to get a level, flat, and smooth surface next time.

You get enough FAE because it's a small box and the cracks and the temperature differentiation between the sub and the open air causes evap and air currents.
Dub tub allows more than enough FAE. More than enough.

Have fun with your shoeboxes that somehow don't require what RR says is most important...FAE

Did you miss all the canopy pictures? And it's not like this is the first type of unmodded tub either.
