Just spawned another Colombian Rust Spore Shoebox today in the back middle with the other two.

The five in front have been around for over a month and are just about spent. Got some more jars colonizing so Iβll be keeping a rotation going.
I was calling them Celtic Rust this whole time

I'm using the same shoebox I'm glad to see they work with just sitting them together like that. How many times a day do you mist/fan. I will be spawning 2 shoe boxes tonight. I'm on my third flush with my Hanoi and starting out my first pinset on a small tray and shoebox. Trying to get a staggered grow going lol. I have like 4 different spore cubes right now.

I mist when they get dry and donβt fan at all. Just keep them somewhat moist on top and the dubtub allows for fae. I made the mistake of misting once I started fruiting and now I know thatβs not needed until after the first flush. Still learning about how to keep them happy. Think Iβm getting it down though.

Jars like that never do anything but go green for me. WBS looks different than oats, but still, that looks like a bad time to me.

In my environment a single shoebox will need a slight mist or two for a good pinset. When I put shoeboxes in larger monos, my preferred way, the misting is not required

With big monos I rarely need to mist before first flush in my environment. Shoeboxes? I've def fucked up some surfaces due to neglect and not misting when I should. Small subs require you to keep an eye on them.

ive been complaining about spawning bad grains
i didnt say DONT MIST. i said you shouldnt have too and if you do its for fine tuning. that is not an absolute comment either. there are always exceptions but people have to learn the basics first.

Munchauzen said: I think you need to rethink this. There is no reason to tell people to not mist at anytime of any grow
i never said that.
i never wanted the surface conditions thread stickied nor did i vote or take part of any disscussion to have it stickied.. it leads to people helicopter misting(myself included)

but if you think you've come up with one, I'd like to hear it
i never said 'dont mist anytime' as you are saying i did.
im really confused. what I was saying and what i AM saying is that you should not need to mist before flush one if you do it right. even a shoebox. am i wrong? im not talking about getting perfect pin sets. im talking about growing mushrooms to learn.

The surface conditions thread is awesome but I've seen lots of noobs misunderstanding it and ruining lots of surfaces. That's good though, it's part of the learning process.

My misting 50 times a day shoebox, super matted surface. This clone gave no fucks and was bottom watered. From last year.

I also think the default mindset for new growers should be DON'T MIST.
Not to call out bill orielly but that shit happens way too much. Novice or newer growers think this shit is like a chi-a-pet.
Add the ingredients, mist it twice a day and watch it grow!
I mist solely to fine tune or adjust my surface conditions. It is not a part of cultivation the way damn near every newer grower thinks it is.

Goddamn I fucked up my first shoeboxes bad from over-misting. Second round went much better. Just misted based on the color of the coir poking through top. If it's dark...there's water in there

That's what I learned to from my mistakes to. Or else I start seeing bottom and side pins so far I've been able to keep the bottom pins away but side pins seem to occur still and that's ok haha. I for sure need to dial in my tubs I think that's part of the reason I'm having a hard time with the correct fae
