Think you are right on it being aerial mycellium just not quite the cause. I think it's not enough FAE if I'm looking at this right again. I did take some pictures I will post now

Think it is maybe my holes. Not big enough and had two layers of mp on the bottom holes and 1 inch holes on the top 1 layer of mp but now I removed the extra layer hope it will help the aerial mycellium. Im suffocating my poor shrooms lol

Give it some air, fruit it out,try again. Good thing about shoeboxes is that they are just so damn easy to prep/spawn/fruit.Keep a constant rotation.

No totally understand that lol I was just posting my pic here originally to show it. I knew I had some issue with it just didn't think it would create this new thread within a thread lol definitely make my own post

Does anyone have experience using just 1 quart of spawn instead of 2 for the shoeboxes? If so, did you spawn with 1 qt of coir or more/less? Also is it better to wait to add lighting when it's ready for fruiting or should I have it under light for 12 hrs a day during spawning as well?

it's up to you. Ratio doesn't have to be perfect, up to 1:4 spawn:coir is used quite often.

one to one ratio dude
1qt to 1qt
2qt to 2qts
8qts to 8qts.
but nothing is stopping you from doing other ratios. its all up to you

I'm going to try the 1:1 ratio. This is my first attempt with oat spawn. My last 3 attempts were with grated brf cakes. All 3 contaminated during the spawn or fruiting stages. Idk what happened. Hopefully I will have better luck this time -_-
