So here's two that I spawned on 4/5, 1qt of whole oats, verm/coir from clean agar->grain. I messed up and didn't get them proper FAE until 4/22. They currently have the lids flipped and I'm misting them and providing plenty of FAE as far as I can see (slight water droplets forming on the surface, ~75 degrees)
This is Huatla. The yellow spot that is circled was from the lid accidentally falling and hitting it 2 days ago.

This is PE. It has a slight, almost metallic sheen to it.

Right now they both look like something out of Alien™, despite not having a speck of green anywhere, at least?
I have another box that is a few days into colonizing and is growing nicely, I'm thinking that I will flip the lid and add light for it tomorrow to avoid whatever mess I currently have going on.
Please, pretty please help

Dude that first tub looks atrocious... you’ll be lucky to get a flush before it molds out if there isn’t already some mold hidden in there
The second one isn’t as bad but looks pretty bacterial.
Tryptkloids if you see this, this picture is a good reference of a bacterial sub compared to Lurker’s in the POTD thread that was more so matted from surface conditions

Here is a recent picture of some colonizing jars of the same syringes. Syringe->agar-grains-coir/verm, I foolishly didn't do any agar-agar transfers.

I'll just isolate them outside to see what becomes of them.
Back to the drawing board. Thanks everyone, sincerely!
As a side note, there is no real smell, mostly wet coir, just earthy.

Thanks guys, I actually don't know the variety, cloned from a cube, my first ever bulk via shoebox and with the help of this thread and many more. They were both about 2qt of spawn and about 1/4 brick coir with some verm in there
Pretty sure it's the genetics
Maybe one day I won't be so lazy and learn to do prints and do a giveaway to anyone interested in testing them out

This is not mushroom mycelium imo, looks like black mold on it and possibly bacterial.
Edit: if you plan to keep those tubs I would isolate tjem from any others you have.

Isn't the "black mold" uncolonized coir? Or maybe you're referring to the PE tubs?
Could this possibly be a result of a dry top layer or sub in high co2?

It could be uncolonized coir but it still looks sick.

Yeah it's just small spots of uncolonized coir and bad lighting. It's all very white with a little yellow tint here and there. I left the lids on and starved them of fae for like 2 weeks after the entire tubs were very colonized by mistake.

I think coir looks different. I've had cakes with that shit on it. Weird white that sporulates black dots like in the picture.

Touch those black spots w/ paper towel to make sure they don't smudge off. Looks pretty dotty to be coir imo.

It's just a light coating of white over the brown of the coir. Here's better pictures. Not trying to say "you're wrong bro, these boxes are good!11!" Lol. They're clearly fuckered. :P
