Yeah red reishi. Such an aggressive mycellium. I didn't have time to properly study what they wanted, so I tossed them in a shoebox with pine pellets/coir/verm and treated them like a cube . They've done amazingly well so far.

Been watching this for a long time, almost through all 260 odd pages. Thanks to Mushboy and all who have contributed to the advice and inspiration in this thread. Lots of shoebox stuff to come from me in the next couple of months. Got one shoebox fruiting that's looking great, my best after a few tries, but I am still learning to dial in surface conditions. I think my next few shoeboxes will be kick ass and I can't wait to share what I'm getting ready. Cheers yall

Yup, flipped the lid on this one before I got all the way through this thread. After reading everything here and watching this tub I definitely picked up some knowledge about how the air flows in these things. Finna canopy with the box I spawned the other day.

I recently read, but forgot.......... When I see too much mycelium after shrooms are growing, is that too much moisture or carbon dioxide? Is it detrimental?, and lastly, should it be avoided? In other words, white fuzz around the base of the shrooms....

It's not bad for a grow necessarily though it's an indicator of not enough FAE and too much CO2 has built up. It's not the end of the world if you get a little bit of buzzy feet but it's generally avoided at all times. Sometimes it's as easy as making 2 more holes, cracking the lid, MF or just wave some air in it a 3rd time a day if possible (if already doing 3 times a day add another MF cycle).
Now if you start getting super skinny and tall flush, that's a sign of really bad FAE and that might take some real changes to fix.
