Lol well I'm glad I found out when I did. My tubs will be ready for fruiting in a few days and I definitely would of been going overboard woth the misting :facepalm3:

Edit:  one last thing just so I'm certain, do you usually need to mist before the pins set or does that also just depend on the tub/ ambient conditions? I'm not sure if I should just not even touch the lid until I see pins?

The mush will let you know when they need misting, f'real.  You'll know what I mean when you see it.

Edit: Also, it was easiest for me to learn if there is enough water in the sub by lifting it up and feeling it out that way.  You will know when there ain't much water in there, it feels unreasonably light.  But yeah as Mushboy said, it has gotta have some degree of dryness on the surface for there to be beads of water and for me it happens almost always naturally without misting through the first flush if it is at field capacity..

Guys. This has gotten way out of hand. This thread is for shoeboxes.

If you want to discuss in the ins and outs of surface conditions and when or when not to mist, this is thread to do it in

One dude said he is confused because all the contradictory info... well ask in the right thread and things might be a bit clearer.

See the cool thing about shoeboxes is you take one quart and try a different method simultaneously and can see right away whethet or not you are doing it right. Shit go and fuck up some sbes on purpose , i did. You gotta push the limits and see how much you can mist, how little, try bottom watering, try monos they all work.

..read the shit out of that thread...was still confused... I feel like an idoit...

I was basing the appearance of my Surface conditions on whether or not I saw a beads on the surface.

Just want to make shure I'm clear...

I should base my Surface conditions on the color and possibly the general weight of my shoebox? Basically what I'm saying is I should let it dry out a lot more than I am before I mist? ...

Are you basically saying if I mist it and it's already moist it won't actually form beads it just sort of attaches to the existing moisture and soaks in?

I am basically coming to the conclusion that I've been over misting and if anyone can point to clear identifiers that the substrate is dry that would be awesome. What I'm getting is if it's dark brown and has a nice weight to it then it's probably got plenty of moisture?

.... I'll start posting these questions in the other thread but honestly it kind of made me confused and clearly this other dude is confused as well on the same level so I'm sorry if I sound stupid but I think I was just going down the wrong path the way I understood it...

Thanks for all the time and help!:firstladyofapproval:

Light brown/ tan coir is a sign its drying out, dark brown coir is wet.

I'll be paying much closer attention to that now as well as the general weight of the tub.

Also will be just straight experimenting from one tub to the next and see what works best for me.

.. my apologies again for the redundancy of my questions:shrug::llamastare::mindexpanding:
