My Malabar, after 3 flushes, yielded 34.5g cracker dry. The Golden Teacher & Puerto Rican total 44g cracker dry. The PR were mostly really small, so their weight doesn't reflect number of caps.
I have 14g of dried Chitwan - heavy & big even at fully dry. Still in first flush. Pic is wet/fresh.

4th attempt, Wild Cube MS A2G WBS. Spawned 1:1 for the higher tub and roughly 1:1.5 for the lower.

I'm hoping these two won't get cobweb 24 hours after spawning like the last one. They should have better FAE this time round with the computer fan running for 15 mins every 2 hours.
Any suggestions are appreciated

Coir and Verm, last time the spawn smelled like alcohol and I decided to use it anyway. It was my own fault.

Prep and gather supplies.
 Birth and rinse cakes,shred them.
1/4 brick(about 2qt)bucket tek prepped coir/verm added and mixed well with shredded cakes.
Level it out and put the lid on.
I love the simpleness of shoeboxes!

Finally getting some PESH pins on day 19, 6qt lids been latched entire time. Only had to mist one box that was 1:1 1qt spawn with no case(pictured). Out of 9, the one with coir casing has best distribution/concentrations of knots/pins.
Another note: the uncased boxes have some vigorous growth up the sides of the box that begin to pin. The casing seems to keep those at bay.

I prepped a bunch of coir yesterday (about two and a half bricks) in a 5 gallon container. I think I might have screwed up because the bucket is literally brimming full of coir so I couldn't mix it up. Do you think it's prepped properly? My fear is that the coir at the bottom might not have gotten wet/hot.

Doesn't matter about being wet or hot, hotter is probably better then cold, I'd be more concerned about the top half not being warm enough possibly.
you just squeeze out excess water to field capacity, I always use too much water and have to squeeze it out, Better to be wet than dry
You could use another bucket and pour boiling water over both again, mix and leave for 2 hours.

Right; the top of the bucket felt very hot for quite some time, but the bottom was cool to the touch. You don't think it'll cause problems? I used ~1400 g's of coir and ~ 9 quarts boiling water.

No because the boiling water should of penetrated to the bottom (should have) and the steam will have pasteurised your coir, Next time use two buckets How many Shoeboxes are you making 1 brick of coir makes 4 tubs for myself

My very 1st Pins! Day 11....
I noticed that my substrate is sort of pulling away from the side of the shoe box and I'm a little concerned about getting a bunch of side pins.
Any suggestions on how to maintain an even flush across my substrate?

For each shoe box am I looking at about three 1/2 cakes per shoe box? I think this is my next step before a full blown mono

2 to 4 per box. More cakes per box will colonize faster and create more pin sets.. so I've been told... I'm really loving shoe boxes. I feel like it's easier and more productive for a first-time grower than doing sgfc....

Looks like a lot thicker coverage across the top then what I experienced but if they smell like fresh mushrooms they're probably okay but I'm a Noob as well so might want to wait for someone more experienced to give you some info
