Should you spawn if grains are completely covered in myc but still undigested?

Well I have a couple things to share with you guys today. First is what I have dubbed the mega shoebox. I got this to hold water to soak seedling trays in, but now I will be getting one to try out growing shrooms in.

My 2nd set of pics is a bit more exciting to me. This is my LGT clone that I have been running the last few months, if you saw me post a grow there was a 95% chance it was that clone. Well the longer I work with this clone the more I am seeing something show up that I think is a phenol type. This is LGT, with NO know PE genetics bred in, but I am getting PE phenos showing up. This tub shows more than I have had in any other tub. Not sure what is going on but I am considering a clone of a clone here to try to isolate this.

Awesome grow mad!! I've got your lgt clone prints on agar and into grains right now, my last time I put it to grains my prep must of been bad and it got bacterial as hell so I'm giving it another go since your grows always impress.

Getting a clean culture isn't always that easy. Over hydrated grains will increase the spread of bacteria. I still have bacteria issues I am working on, but I focused on NOT over hydrating my grains and worked on not over saturating my substrate. I at least pull a 1st flush before mean green shows up.

Yes, but do let em grab a good foothold first. Do you have pics for example?

Right this is a first for myself
I have a shoebox which is pinning on the bottom, Is it just a matter of flipping the sub,
And what's the reason for this any ideas.

Flipped it by filling with water and trying to spin it 180 degrees, casing cracked slightly but has you can see plenty of pins, just going to let it have plenty of FAE until late tonight help it dry out

You should be good sutty, i just had to prop my last box on it's side, then flipped over cause bottom was pinned. Grew everywhere i didn't want it to, but it grew.

It happens when the conditions on the sides or bottoms are better for mushies than the top.

people who have experience with shoeboxes
you think it will work spawning only 50gs of colonized rye to 100 grams of coir and 2 cups of verm?
worked out to around a 1:4 ration and not a whole ton of spawn (all i had and wasn't exactly planning to do it this way)

You could always just use a smaller container to fruit then in. Something like food storage containers would probably work pretty well.

Sounds like that sub is going to be pretty thin. Colonization is going to be slower so just hope your spawn is clean. Why not use a different container with less sub?
Sorry mushboy I didn’t mean to derail the thread with all the ‘top layer’ talk. Next time I’ll take it over to General

Just laid this bitch out yesterday. WBS to cowpoo. Adding a casing upon full colonization. This is my second grow, second tray, first time using WBS. Will compare results to my uncased Rye berry-coir/hpop/cowpoo/straw tray which is currently fruiting.

not really sure on that
it was originally going to be a pod
but violet said it can take up to 5 weeks to fruit once fruiting conditions were iniated which kinda had me frustrated
too late to switch up now the deed is done lol
i got some varieties on the way and im following mostly bods and other tc methods this time around
no more half successes

i can recommend the use of dry verm to adjust the leftover water in grains pre pc ing, it gives a little dark color to the jars but otherwise works perfect ; it's a bitch to get them to dry evenly sometimes , throw the already soaked and drained grain in a tub , dump some dry verm , mix and check ,
verm does a better job absorbing and maintaing water and releasing when needed , than grains , imo , plus it easy to get it to colonize and i feel it helps the myc tocolonize
anyway that sure helped me with over hydrated grains
first one is with no verm

Its Gt and I used 1 quart rye and 2 pints grated brf cakes to about half a brick coco and 1 qt verm, I was testing a top layer at full colonization and for my environment, and it seems the one with the top layer has no side pins and the one without has a bunch, so top layer gonna have to work for me.

Pretty happy with this first flush. First shoebox ever from my first grain attempt ever from my first agar attempt ever... couldn’t ask for much more. Well beside a better second flush than I’m seeing.
