Yeah, with heat like that, I would think that it would cause some difficulties! Definitely a different set of conditions than I am working with.

I just bottom watered a shoebox yesterday that had shrunk considerably mid first flush. I poured 2-3 oz of water down the gaps along the walls, and had no excess to drain when I checked 3 hours later.
This is only my 2nd shoebox so I'm still refining my methods to this size tub. I'm going to add another half-quart of water next time I mix my CVG and see if that helps. I've been misting multiple times a day as needed and still having hydration issues.

Thanks, I see the temps in Egypt is around the same as here now.
Do you guys usually add more vermiculite to your horse manure than you would to your coir?

You can get a small exhaust fan to help with that. Personally, I use a small window a/c unit.

Hell yeah. Nice thread Mushboy, Im in! I made these shoeboxes last week. The each have 2 qts of spawn mixed with 2 qts cooked coir/vermiculite.
I cased them about 1/4 inch deep with leftover coir. Today when i peeked at them, you can see the myc poking through the top. So i think its going to work.

That looks mega dry for a first flush. Did you maintain surface conditions with misting?

I went for a 1:1 spawn ratio and my boxes are also pulling from the sides before the first flush, I think next time I'm going to go for a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio.
Guys what is your preferred ratio and what yields do you get with it?

1:1 is my go to. I can get about the same yield with 1:2 but it takes longer until harvest

Some of my nice early fruits of this morning...

These are in the great white monster box, spawned 1:4 CVG with a top layer on 15 Jan 2018. This one is doing far better than the 1:2 boxes with no top layer spawned on the 13th. Those have proved much harder to keep surface conditions proper, and they definitely pulled away from the sides more.
Also took a bad picture of the box spawned on 28 Jan, using B+ BRF cakes as the spawn... almost ready for fruits I think.

Lol I have some B+ boxes spawned the 28th too, we can have a competition JK.
Ok so today I upped the coir a bit to a 1:2 ratio, and tomorrow I'll do 2 boxes with a 1:3 and a 1:4 ratio and see how it goes.

Not directly related to misting but how much moisture is contained in your sub. I left a shoebox untouched for 10 days. It was dub tubbed and unopened the entire time. 4 fruits grew bigger than any others I've had to date. No misting. The water came from the sub

Well dude had said my substrate looked really dry... I mist 3 to 5 times a day...Its very dry in my house...None of my other subs look like that... So I was assuming it was because of how big the fruits were. Sucking the sub dry.

first flush from a 3:3 ms fiji tub, culture keeps producing some nice clusters. Cant wait to see how it does in monotubs.
