Worst tek on shroomery by far!!! Just look at these result!!! Haha, just kiddin. I learned a lot. I learned larger tubs need less maintenance. I kept waiting for it to bead up with moisture on the top of the sub like my larger tubs. Never happened. I kept fighting the urge to mist too. oh well. Live and learn. Thank god this isn't my first grow and I can just laugh about it.

I ignored it too much. I am glad I tried this. I feel I am ready for a larger unmodified tub

So, day 12 of my 3 shoeboxes... I know the surrounding spawn/sub looks weak but.. Granted it was all weak myc jars with possible contams.
I bought a beautiful new presto 23Qt PC which works like a hot damn, wow. Already whipped up some more pasty plates, I want strong myc jars. I'm gonna focus on my sterilization technique
I got a few more weak myc jars that I'm going to spawn into 6qt shoe boxes.. As I said these are from weak spawn, but LOOK...

I woke up and saw these, I fell in love. I'm misting the shoeboxes too, oh this is gonna be good! So many knots!!

something ive been encountering is when my pinsets come in dense i HAVE to bottom water the substrate while the pins are about at this stage..

maybe a bit longer..depends on when it needs it. but doing the watering is a must with those denser pinsets. otherwise you can have some aborts or stunted mushroom growth. you dont want to over saturate the sub so after you bottom water and pour off i usually leave them alone unless its really needs a misting.
my house is drier then most tho.. but the point is the smaller substrates can loose water quicker whereas a larger mono has more of a reservoir to pull from. so you need to keep up with the mushrooms/subs thirst sometimes.

Bottom watering ok.. I don't know how to do that yet.. the sides of the tub where there is spawn/sub mixed looks quite wet still, even in the corners.. It looks saturated so far, but I'll keep an eye out
Looks okay so far tho?

yah it looks good bro. you only need to worry about it with heavy pin sets,
this shoebox should of been watered.

got a really good yield. but i could of maybe added another 25% in weight if they all grew slightly bigger. but its not like these things arent fucking incredible just they way they are.. just could of been bigger.
try bottom watering next time. unless you get a killer pin set id skip it but if you are unsure just post pics and apply appropriate critique(if any)

Thx man! Well since I used weak myc possibly contam, they are still fruiting so im relieved! But its not a solid mass, it doesn't look like I could pour water in there and it would just sit in the bottom with the sub floating on it lol it would be like soup...

the idea is to hydrate the 'mass'. the shape, size ,and numbers i guess are irrelevant.

Mush, first off, thanks for this tek. Great write up and great pics. I spawned these boxes on 4/8 with 2 quarts wbs and 2 quarts CVG. Was wondering if I should start cracking the lid. Thanks again everyone

Also this shit is on the side of the tote. Kind of looks like water went down the side behind the spawn

So regarding airflow, which is my biggest concern regarding this tek, do you keep them closed during colonisation, then just crack them open slightly during fruiting? The boxes are completely unmodded?
I like the idea of splitting up my success chances, rather than doing one big mono. I'm not exactly swimming in clean spawn

a member here, munchauzen has posted picture of them fruiting inside with lids snapped on. the lids are not air tight, they will get enough air to fruit on their own. but we crack lids/put in monos because you can never have to mush air. but ive also fruited them closed up. works fine but results are typically better with cracked lids/stashed in modded totes.

I don't put them in monos thou. I either just leave the lids on or dub them.

huge reason why i like using them. they are great ways to fruit different qualities of spawn without risking the whole batch. big monos are fun because the pay off is great but a failed mono stings really bad.
unless you are running multiple monos but thats another thread for another day

Thanks friend. I'll be pricing these boxes for next pay day
I'll store them in a bigger tub that I'll prep for a mono

dont mist too heavily. kinda let em grow for the first few days.
once they grow a bit then you can do a more thorough misting or bottom watering if the pin set demands.
soon you will have some nice fruits. make sure to take a print so you can be self reliant. 1 print can make many, many syringes.
