Oh my bad. I guess I missed that part. Carry on.
On the upside, it looks like it is starting to knot up. It'll still fruit. But I'm sure you know to isolate the FC if it does contam

 Are you guys seeing trich?
I don't see anything definitive but I also don't have the most trained eye for trich. What is curious to me is the odd colonization. There is a solid line where the sub stopped full colonization. That would indicate to me that there is some sort of contam over there.
Though I know next to nothing about contams so take everything I say with a giant grain of salt.
Its that along with the bright white specks, the yellowish color, it just doesn't look right to me.
So even with trich itll still fruit? Despose of it? The first fruits ever...be extremely difficult to throw them away!
If you have other stuff going, isolates it, but let it keep going, it can still flush.

The little bright white specks reminds me of trich starting up, it's much brighter to me than mushroom myc.

It does kind of look like that but when you zoom in you can't really tell if it is trich or hyphae knots.

The day after the color sorta turned...a bunch of pins started showing. Already isolated it (thanks). After discoloration and smell what are other signs of trich?

How those boxes looking? Didn’t look like trich to me, just matted down myc (too much or too little misting).
Curious if you turned green or not...

Just started some shoe boxes and my first one reached 100% so I cased it with straight verm and sprayed it down nicely (Yes I know a casing isn't necessary for cubes.) Didn't read this write up until I had already done so. Also I don't want to read 60 pages. The first 5 were long enough.
So, my question for you (preferably an answer from Bod, mushboy, or munch but any right answer will do.) Since I have it a casing layer should I still leave the lid on or open air fruit like I had planned?
Also this isn't super relevant but I did see people asking about proper spawn to use and I wanna say I cut 5 4oz brf cakes up into clumpy white dirt after dunking them and all 8 shoe box colonies are blowing up strong like they should with any other inoculant. My sub was 4qt coir, 2 cubs verm, 1/2 cub fresh coffee grounds and 4 cups of boiling water (rough field cap of the sub)

Since I got no answers in my thread, I'm gonna try here. Please help me troubleshoot these shoeboxes.
Quote:
Ullr said: Now this leaves me baffled. Two of the shoeboxes are pinning. One spawned the 14th January and the other the 18th. Both have been kept in the same closet, same temperature, same water content, same spawn ratio, same fruiting conditions (reversed lid if I'm not around, since pinning open air and mist as the beads dry if I'm around to take care of it). No signs of contamination that I'm aware of, no metabolites, no bruising, no outreaching mycelium and smells good.
Both have some side pins, not many, there's not really a gap big enough for them to grow. But the later one has hundreds of top pins and primordia (including a few blobs/mutants), while the earlier one has 15 or so pins, and a big one that just went from pin to opening the cap with no veil developing.
As for the differences, the earlier one has almost no top layer (forgot to set aside some CVG before mixing the spawn), I leveled the sub without packing it down, as usually advised.
The later one has a thin top layer and was lightly packed down.
Earlier shoebox with its single shroom:

Later shoebox. Nevermind the crater. Someone accidentally pushed me while taking photos and I shoved my phone into the sub

So... help me here, please. Did I do something wrong that can explain this? How are my surface conditions looking like? Crappy genetics or environmental factors?
Even a couple of tiny pins in the second one are opening their caps now... but those are mutants so I still have some hope.

Just getting some shoeboxes going.. The light I am using puts off a little bit of heat, so I Have it pretty far away.. Should I move it closer or is it good at this distance? The room I am using has a window and is getting some ambient light also.

That's plenty far away but I would do as best as you can to light them from the front, back or sides rather then through a lid that isn't clear.
