They are treasure coast if anyone is wondering.

Did you case them or something?
Nope.
They look dry, but the ones coming up are pretty.

All of these are from great white monster rye spawn, using CVG sub.
First box, about 1:2 ratio, no top layer, spawned 13 January 2018
The one part that got me a bit worried this morning is this, but I think it is just bruising, since it does not show the deep green of trich I've seen in pictures. Agree or disagree?

Second box, about 1:2 ratio, no top layer, spawned 13 January 2018 This looks like it's bruising on the right, but it's just the light through the side of the blue box.

Third box, about 1:4 ratio, CVG top layer, spawned 15 January 2018

Fourth box, about 1:2 ratio, CVG top layer, spawned 20 January 2018

Fifth box, about 1:2 ratio, CVG top layer, spawned 20 January 2018

So, if anyone can instantly see anything I'm doing wrong from the photos, that would be cool. If anyone thinks that they look on track, then that would be even better! HA HA
I have the lids flipped on all of them now, and I end up misting 3-5 times per day, since the furnace in our home kicks on a lot and dries them fairly fast.
I'm getting the impression that the first two will be pinning in the next day or two, and I hope so!
Thanks to the OP, and everyone in this thread for the inspiration and information!
Nice job

They aren't dry, subs got tons of water content and I've been misting them.
I Think it's just the way treasure coast mature, they are supposed to get a very light caramel color to albino white at maturity. I'll be harvesting the 2 big ones in the morning. The new pins look tiny in pics but they are close to the size of a bic lighter and the 2 mature fruits are bigger then my hand.

the coloration of the caps has more to due with humidity i think. like these near a hole.

or these that were open air. lower humidity, lighter colored caps.

both were the same 'variety'

The fruits look fine to me, the substrate just doesn't look as colonized as I would expect and my phone screen doesn't show the moisture droplets I'm used to seeing. Just seems sparse imo. No disrespect intended, just an observation.
Edit: Mushboy, that's a beautiful canopy.

Interesting how? It's a 2:2 (spawn to straight coir), added a 1/4 coir layer when I spawned the jars.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I was getting at. What did you use for spawn, and how did you inoculate?

Agar is really simple, all you need is a still air box to use it. They are simple to make. I made mine with a large clear tote and 2 toilet flanges.

You can make one for less than $20 u.s.
Are you sterilizing your grains in a pressure canner?

Ok, just making sure, I've seen people try to do all sorts of things to try and get around using a pc. I've done small batches of wbs in the microwave but It's the only thing that worked. Other grains wouldn't get hot enough or would burst.
