16qts. a larger shoebox. bootbox. get it? same tek.
in fact... its all the same tek. spawn+dialed in sub+container=mushrooms. universal tek for the masses. or as the wife would say ...'are you mixing your fuzzy grains with dirt again?!'

I usually don't post sarcasm as it's hard to read sometimes. Especially when some people on here get so pumped, and they aren't being sarcastic.

Great haul!
Just curious - How many shoeboxes were you running, and what kind of spawn ratio?

A couple pages back I detailed what I did for my first shoebox run. Lots of experimenting and learning. Going forward I will be sticking with 2:2.

A couple shots of my first three shoeboxes, as of yesterday... getting close I think!

And this one that had a "top layer" applied. but less spawn. It's definitely breaking through.

Been loving them man, still have one fruiting now, like my 6th one or so and I have another 2 colonizing to finish off my 20 jars or so. I love doing these, really enjoy that they only require 2 spawn jars per shoebox too so if you accidentally get trich, you lose a whole 2 jars and not a big mono.

I've got 4 shoeboxes in various stages of colonization. They haven't been opened since started & one is coming close to 100%.
Once they come ready, do I open & mist these or just flip lid, or do I do both?
Dry basement, btw - in a 4x2x5 grow tent

I have a dry environment and I’ve had a lot of success with leaving the lids clasped all the way through fruiting. The fruits get ugly as they hit the top and bend, or will Push it off (unless your sub is shallow)
I found flipping the lids to dry things out and I would fuck hp with misting. Most likely due to not being 100% comfortable reading conditions, but it is what it is.
I have 2 16 qt giant shoeboxes that have had the lid on the entire time (I take off to check and give a very light misting once per day) and they are knotting like crazy and starting to pin. I’ll post pin porn in a few days, hoping the neglect method will give me a nice pinset.

Once they are at 100% you can leave the lids on till pinset fills in if you wanted to or you can flip the lid it's up to You, I would suggest from experience with these that you only flip the lid or allow more fae if you are arround to monitor the substrate conditions!! If you are going to be gone for an extended period of time like 8hours give them a mist and close it up somewhere with minimal air flow till your back.
These thin subs tend to try up fast and can shrink the sub causing side pins.

I'm not going to be home, starting new job. Lid on sounds pretty foolproof, but I am world caliber fool. Thanks very much.

TYVM - I appreciate the input (seeing a pattern, too).
Sounds like unanimous - leaving lids on.
Mist daily w/ some fanning?

You don't need to fan them out unless you mist too much and cause pooling water.
