So here are my shoeboxes spawned on the 1st and 2nd of the year, I noticed you said stop misting mushboy? So should I also misting even though with the knoting it's pulling away from the edges on a couple tubs? 1st ones are golden teacher.
Then I've got 2 pes Amazonian also.
And here's a pic of the setup from the 12th.
Everything looking on track and good to go? I also made up some more agar last night and took 2 giant 4th flushers and cloned from the middle of the tissue of each onto agar in my sab, first time doing it but well see how it goes! I also have started to see signs of growth in my last 6 agar plates I made 6 days ago so we're getting there boys I just hate waiting lol! So today I'll be making up some more brf cakes for fun, and making some oats to practice my grain prep for the agar wedges soon.

Why not mist? I've been misting like 3x's a day as soon as I put it into fruiting otherwise it looks dry/doesnt have water droplets on the top layer.
Am I over misting?? Maybe that's why I'm not getting canopys and getting this instead:
Light is an issue too, I am not running 12/12, really just running the light whenever I am home and can.

I stopped misting almost completely on my latest tubs once the pinset filled in and got near canopies on my tubs.

Anyone having trouble with VERY fuzzy stipes? Is this a problem?

Hmmm dang, my AA+ tub spawned on the 1st is pinning, it should be completely finished in about a week. What conditions are your shoeboxes in? Ime they would at least be super knotted up. My current box is open air so I mist it a good 4-5 times a day. I'd say you only shouldn't mist if your tubs are real wet and aren't drying fast enough. I've been leaving a really small puddles that dry up quick it seems to massively stimulate pinning.
Now if only I didn't have a ridiculous amount of side pins... all 4 walls are covered almosted head to toe in a huge mess of knots/pins. Next time this happens I've been thinking about fruiting the substrate outside of the tub upside down, I guess we'll see

Mateah said: Ended up with 600g of freaks first flush for my first shoebox off 0.5L bacterial spawn. I can’t wait to see how this cultures performes when 100% clean. Substrate looks great and the second half of the pins were normal fruits and no freaks, so the bacterial spawn is somewhat recovering from the infection and producing the best results for me yet.
Stare if you’re reading, I’m not proud that I spawned bacterial WBS I’m just happy once again that I got a normal size flush from very suspect spawn and without any signs of major contamination. I have to say that I was r ally expecting much worse results than 600g from 0.5L WBS first flush. I have not yet been bitten in the ass by this procedure and I hope that the future will bring me 100% clean spawn so I can finally see the potential of my cultures. Sry for being grumpy I guess I think we simply misunderstood each other. Peace
Fruits are fruits and I'm happy you're getting yields. If you're working on getting better at the hobby, there's nothing I can say, because that's the overall goal for everyone, I think. The only thing I'm stressing is that there are actual risks with spawning bacterial jars and keeping bad tubs in the home. That's all I'm trying to drive home, nothing personal towards you as a person or cultivator. Legitimately don't want you to come back in 4 months like, "Every tub of mine is hitting green and I don't know why!"

Sorry, I wasn't planning on responding, but he mentioned me again and I just wanted to stress that there's no issue with him or his skills on my end. Again, I apologize for derailing.
I'm absolutely loving the bigger 16 quart shoeboxes for my APE. Given that APE are short and fat, I don't need to modify the tubs for fruiting at all. Plus they stack well on my shelving in my grow area. Going to switch to mostly shoebox and minis for APE and give regular cubes another run in my big tubs.

Got three shoeboxes made now! They are all Great White Monster that went straight from the germination plate to LI to rye jars. Those jars smelled so tasty!

Looking forward to watching these. Nice of everyone sharing their knowledge and experience in this thread!

Thanks a lot for this tek! I decided to do a shoebox for my first grow, and just harvested (most of) the first flush.
Z strain cubes, MS genetics. Since they were fruiting each at its pace I've had to harvest twice, and got 11 grams dry so far. Tomorrow I'll pick the slowest ones, but I don't think it will be more than a couple grams dry.
Before the first harvest (I had already picked 6-8 or so early birds):

Before the second harvest:

As you can see, they fruited pretty small. Biggest vs smallest:

Any advice for the next one (which is already spawned)? Based on what you can see of the sub, what would you say was the issue for such a small size and yield?

So I took some new pics of my little set up and some of the agar I have going as a newbie to the process. Lemme know what you guys think, I have been told the spawn was definitely not clean and that's why my sub looks like this (thanks for the clarification mushboy) Cheers everyone following along there have been some badass grows from these boxes so far!!
