Yeah okej... If I was really this cocky and didn´t even listen to the advice of experienced growers, then tell me why I have conversations with other growers less experienced than me and asking them about their grows and their advice all the time? It wouldn´t make any sense right? You have a very very narrow interpretation of who I am and maybe it´s best that you keep your theories to yourself until you get to know me a little better? Just becuase aI fruited bacterial spawn doesnt mean I´m trying to prove anyone wrong jeez..
Here is something else just so we don´t go off topic, this is another of my blasphemous experiments. Everyone tells me all the time that very often mycelium will go rizo and rope up on weaker recipes, but from my experience with DFA, BRF and GW agar the opposite was true. So I started to experiment with different agar recipes to see how the same culture would perform. Here is once again my own experience being confirmed to the contrary of what other growers have experienced.

Someone even told me "try MEA for agar recipes and you will see different results" so that´s exactly what I did and I still get stronger healthier more rapid growing mycelium on stronger recipes
Does this mean that I´m trying to stick it to someone that told me rizo comes from weaker recipes? Hell no, I´m just posting about my experiences..

those arent shoeboxes at all!
cool pics. did you filter? and you cant defend 'just so we don´t go off topic' by going off topic. (not brf) i like MEA at 2% also. 1% is too low for me. brf i do like lower tho 1-1.5% and i dont filter.

I bought my first brick recently & made error of single brick that size. Could NOT for the life of me get it cut, finally just put a side in rubbermaid tub & pour boiling water on it. Pry loose what will some off in a few minutes & let cool.
Love working with the coir (mine seems to be very "strandy", tho').

Here is an update on the bacterial shoe box.

This tub may not make the shoe box of the month award, but for me it was important to have seen how that type of jars would perform after being spwned and now I know. A lot of weird mutations and a lot of aborts, but it will still produce mushrooms for me and I cherish every bit of active medicine, I´m not just here to show off only the most amazing grows, I´m here and showing my current projects and hopefully future projects will contain more pleasing results than these, but for now, mushrooms are mushrooms in my world, and they are valuable to me

I've noticed the not sandy one is more annoying because the threads of coco husk rolls together into little balls. The sandy one is easy to get into fine pieces.

These are looking great. My shoeboxes that look like this always seem to perform well.

I have two shoe boxes full of mushies in the fridge. Dehydrator is backed up like the bay bridge. There should be a warning about this at the beginning of the thread man.

Lol I tried to do this open air shit, it dried my box out to the point that it pulled from the walls(probably my fault) now it's literally side pin fucking central

You could rig something up with a dehydrator and a laundry basket.
Heat and moving air and a vented container. Thats all it is anyway

Going awesome, that side pin tub is a bad example though lol, I fucked up, let it dry out, and it pulled from the walls before the first flush so it got super side pins.
Other than that all of these have been running in that ikea box, thing can fit 6 shoeboxes if I wanted to but only have 3 currently. At this point, this is pretty much my new go to way of growing mushrooms. I don't need more than what these can produce, I don't trip that often and already have like 2+ years worth so it's been great.

Ended up with 600g of freaks first flush for my first shoebox off 0.5L bacterial spawn. I can’t wait to see how this cultures performes when 100% clean. Substrate looks great and the second half of the pins were normal fruits and no freaks, so the bacterial spawn is somewhat recovering from the infection and producing the best results for me yet.
Stare if you’re reading, I’m not proud that I spawned bacterial WBS I’m just happy once again that I got a normal size flush from very suspect spawn and without any signs of major contamination. I have to say that I was r ally expecting much worse results than 600g from 0.5L WBS first flush. I have not yet been bitten in the ass by this procedure and I hope that the future will bring me 100% clean spawn so I can finally see the potential of my cultures. Sry for being grumpy I guess I think we simply misunderstood each other. Peace

I dubbed it 3 days ago or so. Saw that a lot of you guys go into fruiting at spawn. It's also a 12 qt instead of a 6. I'll put the botttle down and leave it alone lol
