Im in Wisconsin winter its 0-10F out my house is dry as fuck. I run no humidifier in my grow room. You get static shocks walking around up there. The tubs keep the substrate fine.

Here you go boys! 948.7g Fresh I almost hit my personal goal of 1k fresh from 2QT spawn. The next shoebox behind this looks like it might actually do it.

4-5 total. I didn't really measure it out. Probably about 3QT total sub I used. I have 6 jars I am going to spawn today, all to their own shoebox. They are kind of iffy, but I have used worse. We will see what happens. I am thinking I will go with more sub to see if I can break 500g per quart 1st flush.

Got some extra spawn chilling around so I'm going to try a shoebox again. I'll take a pic of the hardcore aborted pinset I have on the last one when I get home.
Looks like a tub full of ape blobs that aborted.

LOL, that mini mono is what I had to finish fruiting the shoebox in. I can not wait for my 64Qt to finish up. Pins are starting to form and it looks fucking amazing.

Well I ordered some shower caps, cheap as fuck, thinking they would fit over a shoebox, like a tent. NOPE, guess I need to try to find some bigger ones.

I would use shoeboxes and keep lids on until I have my pin set in. Then take lid off and open air fruit in the GH. Then again I may just roll with a bunch of ~64QT mono tubs and use shoeboxes for MS grows and clone testing.
That is pretty much exactly what I had planned to do.

That’s Boss Hatter
This has been stated a few times already but again, The point of this thread is to use a shoebox as the only container for your grow. Once you put them into a mono tub or a gh or whatever its completely taking away from the op’s original idea

This is true, I at least keep them in the shoebox until not really possible any more. Open air fruiting 24HRs a day isn't doable for most. Dub tubing is still a modification like the bag. I find the lid close to the sub helps get a GREAT pin set in. But obviously there is no room to grow fruits.

I would love to open air fruit when I get to that point. The only problem is my cat, since she will eat anything at least once... usually repeatedly, even if she finds out it makes her sick. I'll have to figure something out. I'm worried that the furnace will cause to quick evaporation either way, since the temps have been hovering between -5F and -18F lately!

Read through the thread I've seen I think mushboy put 3 or so shoeboxes into a bigger mono.

Seeing Hatters comment about misting the hell out of his shrooms when they are large enough made me wonder about my misting procedure. Do you all just lightly mist through the entire grow? Do you stop after pins are 1/4 inch tall? What is getting the best results with the shoe boxes both dubbed, lidded, or open air in regards to misting? How do you change it up after the first flush? Anything different?

Keep in mind what works for me may not work for you. IF you mist the hell out of the fruits you need some GOOD FAE! I like to push my FAE so I kind of need to mist the hell out of the shrooms so they don't crack the caps or anything, its rather dry in that room. So I guess my heavy misting of the fruits is really a necessity of me pushing strong FAE.

So I have a question I was going to pm you about but maybe others are having the same problem and it can help more then just me. Anyways when I first made up my mini mono tray and put it into fruiting it was holding so much humidity and perfect surface conditions so I decided to try and open air fruit the thing for all the FAE in the world but I'm pretty sure I just ended up drying the sub out pretty rough while I was gone at work for 7 hours *fail* but here's the thing, ever since then when I mist the sub even heavily there will never form moisture beads on the surface anymore.. it's like either pools of water or just a shiny surface for 5 mins and the substrate soaks it all up or?? Idk. But I'm using a GH and humidifier and it just seems like if I'm not there to babysit every 30 mins it wants to dry out, look nasty and bruised/metabs maybe? But the problem is I gotta go pay the bills from 6am to 4-5pm most days.. any ideas on what I can do? And not to Jack the thread from mush so in that regard I put 2 of my shoeboxes into fruiting that I made up on the 1st

I am not sure, a pic is needed. I have had a HARD time with conditions once I let the top dry and mycelium matted up.
