They rock, except for one small flaw. Putting 2 qt spawn and 3 qt sub causes the sides to bulge slightly. This makes more GE/FAE room between the lid and tub. The other problem is if I move them to much, I end up with a slight gap between sides and the sub, enough o encourage side pins. I am thinking I should just go down to 1 qt spawn to 1 qt sub. This would keep the sub level lower in the shoebox and hopefully, 1 not bulge the sides, 2 not allow the sides to push in the sub, when picking up, thus creating a gap and microclimate for side pins. I have not had many side pins lately, but I am getting a few, along the top of the sides. They seem to only be in tubs I have picked up a few times, which seems to kind of smash the sides in.

That makes sense hatter! I'm doing some shoe boxes today with various ratios to see what the shroomies like the best.
Last night I spawned a half pound of gt rye to a little over half pound of spawn it should go quick

Have you tried adding a top layer of coir after full colonization? It has not disappointed me once yet, I can REALLY recommend this for everyone not just in term of great pinsets, but it makes everything a bit more set and forget, and it also more forgiving of harsh climates. GL

I have been rolling both with and without a casing. It isn't helping much, if any thing possibly hindering me as the casing hides surface conditions some. They do help, but I think my yields and pin sets have passed a point where the casing is actually helping. It is mostly my attention and constant misting. My biggest issue is having heat going in the grow area straight from the furnace. It is DRY ass heat. I wish I had a humidifier to help in that room.
I really want to get a couple of the bigger shallow "shoebox" like totes. Maybe a bigger sub will do better. I have 2 64Qt mono tubs colonizing and they are looking great.
About to get the dried weight from that shoebox soon. I will let you all know how it turns out.

Dried to 71g (2.53OZ) I can deal with that. ANY time I can hit and/or break an OZ per QT 1st flush, I have no right to bitch, LOL.

Bro if you need an LGT print, shoot me a message, I have a BUNCH that need cut apart and packaged up.
Here is a 2nd flush monster I just harvested off of a shoebox.

Shoebox I just pulled 1st harvest off of. (668g) 2 QT spawn. Should dry to right about 2 oz.

A nice cluster from that harvest.

And a NICE pin set that is going to fucking explode!

So not sure how it will work, or if they will even fit, but I ordered some disposable shower caps. The idea is I will poke a few holes in them and put them over shoeboxes when I can not be around to baby sit open air. I feel like dub tubing is a waste of a tub that could have something growing in it. I feel this same way about my mini monos that I have been using for the shoeboxes, when the fruits get to big. If they fit and work out I will let you all know as they are CHEAP AS FUCK!.
I remember reading a tek for using a bucket with shower caps as a cover, so figured I will give her a try, seeing as how 100 is like $4-5

Will do!
My only concern is if they will fit the shoeboxes. So long as they do it should work. I have even had the idea of slipping a bamboo skew between the colonized sub and the container. One in each of the 4 corners. The idea is to use them like tent poles to slip the shower cap down over. This would allow me to adjust so there would be a slight FAE gap between the cap and the tub, something like 1/8-1/4 inch should work. I will play around with them, hell why not.
I do know they work rather well as covers for bowls when storing food in the fridge, LOL.

This thread is gold. Some of the grows here are gorgeous, not to mention the tek's variations.
