I don't see much in the way of fuzzy feet. With fruits that thick FAE is not a concern.

Just follow the tek but replace oats and wheat with rye.

Thanks for the reply man, now since the amount of water could be quite different, how about I hydrate the rye first and add it in to the rest while adding only enough water for the coir?

Just wondering how long a sealed sterilized bottle will last in storage? this assumes an unmodified parafilmed lid, thanks for any input!

I should imagine months or even years if they have been sterilised properly and store in the fridge.

this was my assumption, I mean if they are sterile inside then thats that right? the only other thing would be moisture evaporation, which seems negated, just wondering, I guess I'll start making a nice dent in substrate I got and just have jars ready to go

It depends on your bottle recipe. Only pure CVG will stay indefinitely. Any recipe with grains or wood will last 1-2 weeks tops. Endospores revive after that point.

Ive heard it debated that endospores, if refrigerated, dont recover quickly at all.
Is this true of agar plates aswell?

You may get a few extra days if u refridge them but bacteria will stil germinate down to freezing temperatures.
Do agar plates have grains? The endospores come from the grains...

I've kept straight grain jars for close to 2 months before inoculating. I wouldn't try that with oats but with smaller grains like WBS a few months of storage after sterilizing isn't out of the questions.

Hey muda I think I may have made my fine verm casing layers a bit thick. Will that have any negative impact?

Boiling up my grains for my first horse poo based bottles. But using Rye, Wheat, oat bran and catfood... because everyone at the shroomery loves when I don't follow directions. Thankfully, muda say whadeva
P.S. it's what was around. :P

After you've inoculated and put the jars away to consolidate, do you crack the lids for gas exchange? Do you keep the jars sealed to keep contaminants from getting in?
