Never grown out matsutake, but yes on all the others. I use wheat grain for all my spawn

Nice I let the dry grain soak and I'm just gunna take my jars out of the pressure cooker let them cool and open them and toss the plug in ther. You think it will do fine?

I have no doubt it would work, but why are you going plug to grain? Not the most conventional order of operations. Are you doing this under flow? How exactly are you prepping the grain?

i let the grain soak for about 16 hours than put it on the stove and got the water hot but not even bubbling for about 30 min to help absorb more h20 than i strained the hot water into the pressure cooker and took the damp grain and put it in jars with holes poped in the lid and put them in the pressure cooker on medium for 1 hour than took them out and put tin foil over the top and let cool for a few min before putting in the freezer for 30 min to give it a good chill than i took the lid off and with a sterile utensil pushed the grain from the side of the jar and shoved the plug down between the grain and glass.

I do this with almost all my cultures. I use 2 plugs per quart placed on opposite sides of jar about half way down using forceps. You need some type of filter on your jars or they will contaminate. Grain needs 90 min @ 15 psi.

I think this whole thing is going to end in contamination. You need tyvek or a synthetic filter, paper towels will not work. Are you at least doing your transfer in a glove box?
