Newer Religons.
    #2403544 - 03/04/04 06:25 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Why are so many people hostile to the newer religions like Mormonism and Scientology while being less agressive to longer running religions like Christianity and Islam? Are these new religions any more rediculous than the ones founded before it or does the fact of being more recent make it easier to pick apart? How long does a lie have to exist untill it becomes truth?

I don't think that you have met some of the Scientologists that I have. Also overrated cult is I think a better description. Of course they are all cults at one time or another (still are, depending on your viewpoint) Believe what you want but I think that stuff is trash. While I'm not a Christian at least I can see some of it as valid. I don't really like Mormonism but I have met some really nice Mormons.

Our quest for discovery fuels our creativity in all fields, not just science. If we reached the end of the line, the human spirit would shrivel and die. But I don't think we will ever stand still: we shall increase in complexity, if not in depth, and shall always be the center on an expanding horizon of possibilities.

Because grandpa and grandma were good people... and they were christian... so it can't be all that bad.

Well I dont know much about Mormonism except for the southpark episode on it and if thats true then what a foolish religon. But I guess anyone can creat there own.

You could base it on that famous tree in sherwood forrest and say god carved it out with jesus and his friends to help hide robin hood. And on that day jesus burried under the tree the new holy book with the new scriptors written opon it. But they must stay there or else they will be taken back to the heavens if even the slighest bit of dirt is removed. But they can only be read with the sacred stone of albula on a full moon.

You get the general idea and no i am not crazy
