Is this jar contaminated?

I checked my jar this morning and it had this weird growth on it:

It looks like a worm but has a brown head. Is it eating my cake? Should I dump it?

 Seriously?
This is a mushroom. Some parts of the cake don't look completely colonized. Bad picture. Make more pictures from different angles.

It is pretty colonized, the brown patches are from the casing spilling to sides. Should I wait for it to consolidate for a few more days or should I dunk it when I get back?

It's already fruiting. If a cake fruits before it is completely colonized it's often a sign of contamination.
I can't recommend to place this cake into fruiting conditions before I see more pictures.

I'll post an album later at night EST. Hopefully that is not the case, but I am not too worried. It has been 4 weeks since inoculation and it has been mostly/fully colonized for a while.

Here are somewhat better pics. Does it look ready to birth?
I am almost sure the brown patches all over are from the casing on top. The cake shrunk during PC so the sides had space for it to spill over.

When did they become 100℅ usually you should wait a week after 100℅ visible colonization.

They were fully colonized for about a week. I'll wait a couple more days for the perlite to arrive, then dunk, roll and put it in monotub because I am too lazy to make a separate chamber.

That might work fine, might just have to keep a closer eye on them and mess around with taking the lid off to up the FAE

LOL. Not sure whether the original question was a joke, but it looks ok in my opinion. But if you really thought the pin was a worm I am not too confident in your ability to break the cakes apart and spawn them to a substrate without contamination. Might be a better bet to just bite the bullet and make a fruiting chamber.

Haha I was just joking. It was funny turning it around to see if there was anything new and seeing that well grown fruit. I am not going to break it though, simply use the empty monotub as a fruiting chamber with perlite at the bottom.
