I've got to quit nicotine.

I stopped smoking 2 1/2 years ago after smoking for 3 years and started dipping. I'm sick of using nicotine, I've been consuming it in some form for 5 1/2 years.
I really want to stop, cold turkey. I tried last week and failed miserably. Any tips?
Dip a can a day. When I smoked I was smoking a pack evey 1-2 days.

I know people who replaced nicotine with dabs lol. I have no clue how this works, but they were 5+ year smokers and just started doing dabs all the time, said it got rid of the cravings
Logically, I'd imagine the best way would be to taper off slowly just like any other substance. I know people who used the patch successfully. Vaping is also an option if you dont plan on just replacing one habit for another. You have to use the vape only to satisfy cravings, rather than hitting all day long constantly

Choose a day to quit cold turkey, but don't just pick a day, pick an exact hour too, and stick to it..

So are patches, nicotine gum, or lozenges worth trying or should I just go cold turkey?
Dabs wouldn't help, Im not a cigarette smoker and haven't smoked weed since last april.

Depends on how bad your cravings are. Totally personal thing
If they're not bad, go cold turkey, if they're completely unmanageable, taper off slowly with patches, gum, lozenges

So, I think i'm going to try cold turkey again. If that doesn't work I'm going to taper off. If that doesn't work I may look into vaping.
I've never been through actual nicotine withdrawal. Can't be that bad right? I mean I got over an amphetamine addiction.

The patches and all that bullshit never helped me. If you're not gonna go cold turkey, get a good vape. You can start on stronger juice and work your way down to nothing slowly. With the right vape, quitting cigs is literally painless. I can't speak for dip but I imagine it would probably be the same.

Maybe kratom could help fill the cravings.
Aside from that psychedelics could help motivate you and tapering down could make it easier.
Maybe try smoking and or vaping some healthier herbs too.

Sorry to be a little off topic but psychedelics(just mushrooms) conciderably helps with my dermatillimania. Also i have heard of people having such an inspirational trip that they quit just from the trip alone. Either way you got some people here cheering you on, op

I still smoke like a chimney so.
I stopped smoking cigarettes for a while (trying to stop smoking) but I was smoking a pipe instead at the time. 'Tapering down' IMO is garbage. I've tried patches, and Chantrex. You just need to *really* want to stop. Cold turkey.

Also bupropion, I was prescribed that, they said it would help me stop smoking. Didn't turn out that way.
I'm not saying you should continue using nicotine. I would prefer to not use it anymore myself.

Psychedelics are great for a lot of "mental disorders" like that. They allow us to re program our brain it seems to change our behavior in subtle and drastic ways.
Addiction is essentially a mental disorder too so it makes sense psychedelics can help so much.

I was a daily smoker for over 15 years, and recently stopped. The two things that helped me tons were harmalas and sunflower lecithin.
The sunflower lecithin in small amounts sublingually completely (and quickly) got rid of my cravings during those first few difficult days. It technically works by binding to the same receptors as nicotine does.

Tripping makes me wanna chain-smoke sometimes, other times it's like I can literally feel the cigarettes killing me and I become disgusted with them
I dunno though since I started smoking full-time again a few months ago it's been very hard to quit, I still have my vape but it doesn't seem to do the trick for me like it used to, part of me just wants to smoke cigarettes and doesn't give a fuck while the other part of me doesn't want cancer but can't seem to beat the cravings
Quite a conundrum it is, and for those people who say dumb shit like "Oh, just quit, it's easy", why don't you tell that to all the other people who smoke and we can all take down the tobacco companies together
If it were that easy to "just quit" cigarettes wouldn't even be a thing anymore because no one would want to smoke them

My knowledge is limited but I know a few, Mullen being one of the best. I had an athlete stoner friend as a kid who was prescribed mullen to smoke for his lungs
I was pretty shocked as a kid becouse it just seemed so counter intuitive But it is apparently good for the lungs, opens them up or something.
No others are coming to mind but if you do a quick search I bet you will find a lot of random ones worth trying

Switch to cigars, that's what I did.
They taste awesome, it's pure tobacco only, and you don't inhale.
The cheaper ones are so so. I don't like the cheaper ones, the ones I like start at around 6 or 7 bucks a stick, so I have about 1 a week.
Partagas, Padron, My Father, Arturo Fuente (nice cedar flavor) are some of my favorites. Especially the Padron 1964 anniversary (12-25 bucks), the 1926 serie (17-35), and the family reserve (25+ bucks). My Father Le Bijou was awesome, and I'm about to smoke a $30 Arturo Fuente OpusX Lost City tomorrow, can't wait. All tobaccos in the OpusX are aged for 5 years. The full bodied maduros give you a killer nicotine kick, and if your not used to it, or you haven't eaten, you can get nauseous.
I have tried a few cigs since starting cigars half a year ago, and cigs taste fucking horrible now, they'll never taste good again. Aged, fermented pure high quality tobacco blows cigs out of the water flavorwise, obviously.
My lungs feel better too...

Nicotine by itself is pretty much just like a slightly stronger, more relaxing caffeine. It's all the other crap in tobacco that kills you. If you're no longer smoking then just start using gum instead of dip since you're used to getting nicotine orally now anyway. Once you stop using tobacco itself there's no need to quit using nicotine really, but even so, it would be easier once you got used to only getting the nicotine and not all the other alkaloids and additives in the tobacco.
