Yes well there's a lot of shit TEKs just because someone writes it up doesn't make it good.
And it's well understood that in the UK the exact jars cant be found but you do have ~250mL jars with threaded metal lids. Usually the lids are checkered red and white
I live in the Republic of Ireland which is not the UK. I searched a good few towns in two counties. One place in Ireland, far from here, has two left with no plans on restocking and wants twelve euro for two, plus shipping. Fuck that. I found wide mouth jars with contents inside for five euro a jar of chutney. Too much of an investment if I want eight to twelve of em.
In the Eurosaver, I picked up a checkered lid jar but it is not wide mouthed. Non wide mouth can poise a problem when it's time to birth. I inoculated the jar anyway to see just how difficult it will be to birth. Then I could answer the question with confidence that I do read on this site of "must it be wide mouthed?" For my own future reference as well, aye.
Many people use drinking glasses and shot glasses without a problem. Common American mason jars is not the only tried and true method. I know you've been on this site longer, but I read much on this specifically.
There's many PF Teks and a lot of people with experience on this site recommend PF Tek for Simple Minds for beginners and since it used 8oz glasses oppose to jars, went with it. Sure, not all tutorials are the same and some are shit but really, there isn't only one way to PF Tek. Example: met a guy in NL once who used a pot and steam oppose to a pressure cooker, no problem.
PF Tek is one of the easier methods and is rather forgiving. Knock on wood. I was just curious if too much condensation was in here because ya know, that could really mess things about.
Great to hear perspectives, even if it is unrelated to the moisture in the glasses.

My best success was these PP5 rated containers from the dollar store.

I was just having fun, I called it "Indica Jones and the temple of Shroom".
Have fun, what can go wrong?
Haha to Indica Jones and the Temple of Shrooms
But the containers you used survived well through sterilization. That's great. May look for containers that can withstand a lot of heat too if I don't come around more glasses or reasonably priced wide mouth jars.
Yeah, this is fun. I'm excited for the next stage which, if all goes well, will be in a good few weeks. If not, got a vial ready for the next attempt.
Thank you for the insight and for everyone's contribution to the post.

Update: Mycelium is now growing and taking off that top lid, but leaving the one with incoluation holes is working. So far, no sign of contam. Knock on wood! This is day eight.
