Its going to be a challenge for me as well, hate pens me in here (in this house), dealing with or ignoring my neighbors is a daily struggle, but before I leave here in April I will overcome this challenge
Ive started going to a zen buddhism meditation group, and am waiting to be contacted by another group, it helps to have people to commune with, more than I can say

I've actually been doing pretty well too. I've noticed though, when you are extra kind to women they care for you less you

Working on it but it's a challenge.
My mind operates as if it's on adderall (even though it's not) so it can be difficult sometimes to settle my thoughts. But, I am getting better at it. Baby steps.

Group meditations really help slow my mind down, the mind never stops its rambling but its much easier to leave it be when its slowed down

I don't believe full mindfulness is possible for an extended duration (not that the post intended this).
Just like the operational definition for psychological research, I believe it is an attitude moreso than an objective. If you do happen to "get it", it's hard to maintain because your giving yourself obligatory ego-indulgence for accomplishing the "task". It is this same indulgence which signals, in my humble opinion, that one is not being mindful.
That said, there are numerous, research supported benefits to practicing, and I encourage the practice for all.

For the sake of conversation: Definitions of Mindfulness
"Bringing one's complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis." (Marlatt & Kristeller)
"Paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally." (Kabat-Zinn).
"The non-judgmental observation of the ongoing stream of internal and external stimuli as they arise." (Baer)
"Awareness of present experience with acceptance." (Germer, Segal, Fulton)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me personally, I don't think it's possible for several hours on end, especially if participating in society (e.g., work, grocery store).
I am open to being wrong too, but given that the brain is hard wired to compute, elaborate, and judge - it's a difficult task.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some potential benefits:
to be fully present, here and now to experience unpleasant thoughts and feelings safely to become aware of what you're avoiding to become more connected to yourself, to others and to the world around you to become less judgmental to increase self-awareness to become less disturbed by and less reactive to unpleasant experiences to learn the distinction between you and your thoughts to have more direct contact with the world, rather than living through your thoughts to learn that everything changes; that thoughts and feelings come and go like the weather to have more balance, less emotional volatility to experience more calm and peacefulness to develop self-acceptance and self-compassion
