Will this fruiting chamber work fine?

So my buddy has some pf-tek jars inoculated and currently waiting for them to finish so they can be dunked and placed in the terrarium. This terrarium is a styrofoam cooler with a clear lid, drip shield, a hole on the bottom so standing water can drain, and a wire rack 1 inch off the bottom. It is setup to have a humidifier run through a series of tubes and bottles into the cooler. My question is will the humidifier be enough to keep the cakes moist? How long does he have to run the humidifier each day? Does he still manually mist the cakes occasionally or will the humidifier be enough? Does he need holes cut into the cooler for airflow? And also is the drip shield necessary as it takes up a decent amount of space? Thanks

Drip shields are outdated. Your setup does not sound good. You don't need a humidifier.
Take a look: Basic Principles of the Shotgun Fruiting Chamber (SGFC)
A cheap and easy setup.

Alright. But do you think this set up could work for the first time? I would like to try a trial run before I I go out and buy/build.

Is it just me or is everyone compelled to automate a fruiting chamber when they first start?
I have humidifiers, vaporizers, atomizers, computer fans and other equipment that SEEMED like a great idea at the time, but.
Do a proper SGFC, 1/4" holes every 2 inches all 6 sides, minimum of 4" of perlite and raise it off the ground with soup cans.
The mushrooms create a higher temperature causing air current to be drawn upwards through the wet perlite which delivers the high humidity. I used a hygrometer to test the humidity both ways. A mist in the air is not an indication of high humidity.
If you have the equipment go ahead and try it side by side, I guarantee you will have success with the SGFC!
Till then, keep your stick on the ice and remember to bring a towel! Why can't I get that godamn gif to work?

no. do not do it. trust us all.
a sgfc will cost about 15 usd. home depot has sterlite brand plastic totes. or storage bin, whichever. also head to the garden section for perlite.
thats it. and something to make holes on all the sides. ranging from a red hot nail to a drill on low(do not crack the tub)

building isnt going to cost you more than a dollar drill bit, a bag of perlite and a bin that is a big enough size to fit the cakes youre doing
the most this could cost is like 20 bucks

No need at all to reinvent the wheel. A properly built SGFC will work wonders.

its really hard to see through the glass design. keep the jar upright. its a good practice not to disturb the dry layer.

Yeah I used the wrong jars. It's just like that for the picture. I have them in a cardboard box with a towel over it. Standing upright of course
