Looking at your mushrooms while growing. Plus no tape on holes.

I inoculated Friday. I want to check on them like twice a day to see if they're growing. How often is too often? And you guys don't put tape over the holes in the kids?

Are you doing the BRF PFTek? If so, are you using a layer of dry verm at the top of your jars? If there is a dry verm layer you do not need tape on the holes while colonizing. If you did not use a dry verm layer on top then you should cover the holes with micropore tape and pray you don't get contams.
No need to check on them for the first week as they are note likely to be doing much during that time. Just let them do their thing and check on them after a week or so.

I think a lot of times I have read not to check BRF jars with verm barriers because it could cause the verm to slip down and then there would be more of an opportunity for contains to slip in from the untaped holes.
I didn't work with BRF enough to find out if that was just an old adage or it was really true. but seems like if u packed ur BRF correctly, and the verm is packed, it wouldn't be a problem, but IDK.
twice a day is way too often, even if it was growing. you might end up overthinking and analyzing, which will drive u nuts. mushrooms work at their own pace, and in time, u will see how varied that pace can be. IME, the are slow when u need them to be fast, and fast when u need them to be slow
just check them every 3-4 days. read up more on growing in the meantime-SGFC, agar, grains, etc.

How many attempts? What's going wrong? I was hoping my first attempt would work.

tried doing grains my first two times and my sterile technique was horrible haha, trying to do everything right this time doing the PF-tek, not sure if i want to spawn them to a bulk or leave them as cakes though
if youre doing PF-tek then youre good but agar is pretty important if you want clean spawn and good flushes with grain
im definitely still learning, maybe i just have a dirty ass house though haha, you'll probably be fine

Ugh inoculated Friday, it's now Wednesday and nothing. I know people say not to worry till after two weeks, but this is driving me crazy.

Exactly! Besides sterility, patience is the most important aspect of growing mushrooms, or growing anything for that matter.
