Heart beats and people

Today I learned that in an average lifespan the human heart beats 2.5-3.5 billion times. There are more than twice that many people in the world. Puts things in perspective. Overpopulation terrifies me.

for a long while now, i've held an unproved, likely unprovable, hypothesis that each person has a set amount of beats their heart can withstand. factors can change that number up or down

On the flip side, you could have concluded that the human heart beats too many times....
I once read than drinking is bad for the health, so I packed in reading...

I've seen this theory floating around before, and there is just a smidgen of evidence for it, but it's outweighed by evidence on the other side, I believe. If it were true, then people who are regularly active and have a high heart rate during their daily activity would die sooner, but this tends not to be the case; active, healthy lifestyles tend to lead to longer life spans unless they get smashed by a car or something.

The beats are probably not fixed to a specific amount but I would say the lifespans of people are somewhat bound to genetics. Often people live for about as long as their parents did, old people have told me this and given several examples of people they knew.

there is healthy exercise and unhealthy exercise. that is part of what will keep my mind on my hypothesis. just like there is healthy diet and unhealthy diet, which has an affect on heart and vein health, which would influence the duration
