Did you wait for the casing layer to colonize if so you could have overlay. I would have cased it, then put it right into fruiting conditions. A pic would help

That really sucks. I just lost a mono to the green. My first thought was I didn't pasteurize the substrate long enough. I successfully grew 4 monos last year without molding before the third flush from MS. This was in the summer when the temp was considerably higher and mold has the upper hand. I've lost the last 3 I've tried this winter before the first pin even formed. The only difference is now I'm using rye berries instead of WBS. Perhaps we both had bad rye?

Nice grow! I know people frown on using a bubbler but go ahead if it works for you. like comebackkid said: RH is less important than FAE. I've used a bubbler for all my tray grows because I couldn't get any perlite at that time. Worked like a charm! just make sure you fan often.

Bad rye was not the issue here. Mycomind inoculated with spore solution.

Thanks everyone... time to make a dump trip with a great big slab of crap. I used steer poo from a local garden supply, and wondering if that was the problem, or it was the casing... MGMC. Either way, it's looking a lot worse this morning... all gray and black, mycelium giving up to the mold's advance.

You can't blame it on anything with certainty when you inoculated your grain with spores Spore syringe is the #1 culprit untill you start inoculating with agar

Just ordered Petrie dishes and agar... Appreciate all the feedback and advice.
In better news, I'm at about 30 g dry and still fruiting with the Cubensis PFtek, so some things are working well. Really want to try this Copelandia Bisporous though, and get mono tubs working, so not going to give up yet...

At least it wasn't a complete loss!
