Lophophora williamse
    #24028213 - 01/21/17 01:18 PM (7 years, 9 days ago)

Hopefully someone with some peyote growing eexperience can get back to me quickly. I recently planted some lophophora seeds and tthey just began sprouting a few days ago (about a week after i planted them) and just yesterday I noticed that the first one i planted has turned a red/yellow. I use a 26 watt cfl bulb and i have kept it about 8 or so inches away from the cacti. Are my cacti getting burnt from the bulb? Or is this normal to see with newly sprouted cacti? If it is not normal what can i do to keep them healthy?

It's pretty normal, and yes they are getting burned. Move the light a little further away or shade them with cheesecloth.

You'll be fine. Mine jourdaniana  seedlings are all brown and not green at all. They will be fine and like fungus Tao  said ease up on the light. :goodluck:

You'd have to really try to harm a cactus with too much light. They turn brown/red in response to more light, a little like we tan.
