When is the next moon landing?
    #24028060 - 01/21/17 11:56 AM (7 years, 9 days ago)

The last human to walk on the moon died a few days ago. He was old as hell too. It got me thinking about the next person to walk on the moon. I'm too young to have witnessed any moon landings. But with today's technology and the internet and twitter and everything, I think the next moon landings will be just as big if not bigger than the first one.

And leave him there to die alone in the cold vast emptiness of a dead planet with no atmosphere and no future.

If we find oil on mars you know it'll be colonized quick, enough people to drill it and send it back up
Thats going to be the start of space colonization if we ever get there, mining resources

Its impractical now though, and space programs have pitiful budgets so civilization may well collapse first

Space ships should be built on the moon. The low gravity makes for less energy to be used to move all the stuff around and put it together. And the moon probably has most all the metals and stuff needed to make ships. Bet there's a ton of resources up there. Then we never have to launch big ships from earth, which always takes a ton of energy.

We could send Lil shuttles or space plane type things to the moon eventually, that would carry people back and forth, but the space ships for deep exploration should launch from the moon.

I'm thinking anything mined on Mars would have to be very valuable to be worth shipping back here, even with much better methods than our current ones.

I kind of like the idea of a "space elevator" for getting things into orbit without having to fight atmospheric drag with extreme speeds. It would be a bitch to set up though.

How do they attach new pieces of the international space station with out oxygen?

As for fuel. Instead of a space elevator, I suggest a space pipeline. Almost same concept except people it pumps fuels up to a space station to be shipped to the moon.

pumping fuel that far/high through those pressure changes would require enormous amounts of energy; not to mention asteroids and other potentially damaging space debris

keep dreaming, especially since most planets in this solar system are  inhabitable despite terraforming/biosphereing as well as the distance to get there and also send materials.

unless we get that darn 'scuttler doorway workin, that is
