Pressure guage temp 55gallon drum
    #24028018 - 01/21/17 11:37 AM (7 years, 9 days ago)

I got an ashcroft low pressure guage today, but the label says it could break or explode or something if the temperature of the guage itself goes beyond 150 degrees. I would assume the guage itself wont get that hot but i vould be wrong.  Is there a way to possibly put a hydrolic barrier or something between the guage and the drum to prevent extreme temperatures while still getting a psi reading or should i just go for it and see what happens?  It feels solid, metal housing and everything.

Answered my own question with a little research.

A pigtail steam siphon is used when monitoring the pressure of steam. Steam is often outside the range of the sensor and therefore a barrier must be created in order to protect the sensor. Filling the pigtail with water acts as a barrier between the sensor and steam.
