Idk I bought it from someone less than a year ago That's like a second gemmae or whatever, kind of like a cactus pup, I am pretty sure I could separate it into two plants but I like it how it is The leaves are much smaller cuz it was in the window, the larger leaves came after I put it under my t5, It never used to curl up and catch bugs but now that it has those big leaves and extra sticky juice it eats the shit out of some gnats

I was thinking the little grass sprouts could be drosera capensis(think thats the correct spelling). See what happens
Here are the drosera rotundifolia seeds and the litte bed i made for them in this petri of mine.
They like a 50/50 mix of sand and sphangum moss, didnt have silica sand and i was afraid to use beach sand. So i went with two tbl spoons of crushed perlite, two tbl spoons of peat, and one tbl spoon of vermiculite, hydrated with purifide water a little on the muddy side, and sprinkeld the seeds ontop without covering them at all. Then i seaaled it up with cling wrap, and placed it ontop of my cabinet right below my bright kitchen light. 4-8 weeks wait now..

Just speaking hypothetically, here.
I can see why the bright blue stuff, containing potash and urea, will burn a tender plant. It's fumes burn my nose and eyes, from under a humidity dome.
But, a peat bog is basically floating in compost tea. Full of nutrients, dissolved so finely, that it can be absorbed through the leaves.

Some of the soil recipes vary for different species, but from what i have read i think most droseras like 50/50 peat and sand.
I see what your saying tho, especially with coir i would think.

Yeah I mean the whole reason carnivorous plants evolved the way they did is because they can't get nutrients from their environment 50/50 sphagnum moss and perlite is what I use

I haven't had much success with Venus fly traps, but I'm considering getting some pitcher plants this spring. I saw them for sale last Fall in Atlanta along with other plants that aren't meant to be grown in containers, so I assumed they might survive in a low, wet area in the general vicinity? I'm going to give it a shot anyway, might keep some in a pot too.

Are these tropical pitchers (nepenthes) or american pitchers (sarracenia)?
My book has some great soil recipies for both if your interested in mixing your own.
I reccomend using a pot for any carnivorous plants. The nepenthes like the soil wet to moist but you can use the tray method on pitchers.

Flytraps can be a challenge, before I put mine into dormancy I repotted it into an acidic organic mix lacking nutes and it was doing great, peat, coir and sand. Some people use 100% long fiber spagnum with great results. Most important part is low PPM water, distilled or RO.

I have some nepethene x ventrata plants they're not doing the greatest as far as producing pitchers... I've been misting them as much as possible, maybe it's because I have them in just neutral soil with perlite?
Should I put them in new substrate?

Yeah what redz said.
I believe the nepenthes like it outdoors like the flytraps, are your plants indoor or out?

They're indoors. They're still pretty young too... They're only about 8 months old from cutting so idk.
I'll be getting some sphagnum peat moss soon.
