Is anyone into carnivorous plants?

Just bought some Drosera and nepenthes seeds, cant wait to get them going.
I read gibberellic acid helps the seeds germinate somehow, can anyone shed more light on this for me? Nepenthes left drosera right

I've never grown Nepenthes or Drosera from seed, but from what I can read online it seems like the fresher the seed the better, and to sow them on sphagnum moss and put your pot in a sealed plastic baggie for humidity.

I have a typical flytrap that I hope I put into dormancy and didn't kill, if it comes back in the spring I was thinking about getting a couple more cultivars.

Yep, this is what i also read. Apparently for a higher success rate, you need to add a gram of gebberellic acid to a liter of distilled water then soak the seeds for 24 hours in a napkin soaked in the solution. I think the reason they do it this way is because waiting for a year full of climate changes to split the seed is just too long a wait. The gibberellic helps shorten the germination time.

Like most snake oils, its main effect is probably to lighten wallets.
But at least one of the constituents has potential use: Plumbagin, a Medicinal Plant–Derived Naphthoquinone, Is a Novel Inhibitor of the Growth and Invasion of Hormone-Refractory Prostate Cancer

I've had a couple purple pitcher plants, I don't have experience staring from seed. I have killed all of my pitcher plants during hibernation. I've had a couple Sarracenia purpurea and they do fine in the summer, but then I forget to keep them wet during the winter and they die.
Really cool plants though, water it with distilled water only and feed it small crickets if its looking weak. No fertilizer, they are carnivorous for a reason.

It reminds me of the 'doctrine of signatures.' Has jaws, eats cancers.
Maybe, it's reasonable, that things like mushrooms, bog plants, and eaters of insects, would have immune properties, to protect them, in their natural environment.
Also, some believe that carnivorous plants narcotize their prey, so have psychoactive properties.

It's possible to make rooting hormones, from common, plant materials.
And, busy vendors should purchase bulk shipping. Many people, online, offer flat rates or free, worldwide shipping.

As for rooting hormone, most garden centers carry the miracle grow kind. If not something similar.

May I ask where you're located?
There's no need to be overly-specific, if that makes you feel uncomfortable.
(I think I have misspoken, as gibberellin is technically a lengthening hormone.)

Kelp has plenty of gibberellic acid.

Probably, because, it grows very long, very fast.
Chemicals have been extracted from different seeds, tendrils, etc.

Im in the virgin islands, maybe U.S., maybe British lol the flag under my avatar doesnt help.
But yeah, screw gibberellic acid, im going the route of patience. 4 to 8 weeks typically for the beginner friendly species of drosera and nepenthes.
Im going to post all my progress here from seed.
If you have any carnivorous plants, please share along with me.

Just buy a sack of kelp meal. Soak some of it in some water, then use that 'tea' to soak your seeds. Kelp should have a place in your garden anyways. Besides the auxins, there's plenty of macro, micro, and trace nutes.

imho, it would change the overall form of the plant. Someone might dabble, with plant hormones, to create a mutant.
