Idk whats more interesting, cows being fed skittles or the thousands of skittles all scattered on dawn's highway bleeding, ghosts crowd the fragile eggshell mind.

I used to live on a small farm and we grew alfalfa in the cooler months and corn in the summer months. Our Angus cows got regular treats of hay and corn/conrhusks. And salt licks. Livestock love the shit out of a block of salt.

We also had composite feed (basically dog food for livestock) we'd give to them on occasion and it was great. The msg or whatever they put into it makes that shit addictive - whenever they managed to get out of their pen or we needed to rouse them up we'd take the feed bucket and jiggle it and they'd come running. Didn't even need to have feed in it. Tho you could tell they would be pissed about not getting treats.

:greenthumb:

Living on a farm would be awesome! Honestly the feed might have just tasted way better from whatever was in it, even without MSG treats can be addicting

Pissed off cows sound hilarious
:lolsy:

My dog is the same way with treats except now she is getting spoiled :tongue2: I trained her to go to the bathroom quick so I don't have to freeze my ass off outside walking her in circles. What I did was I started giving her treats when she went quick and came back inside. So now half the time I let her out she runs out back, sniffs and goes to the bathroom, then sprints back inside and heads into the kitchen for her treat

I wish I could just let her out on her own but she is crazy and our fence has like 3 holes in it right now... So her treat addiction is handy.

Well Ok then. Cows get Skittles. Did not know that. For years too. I'm suprised Skittles or farmers haven't came forward with this before.

They're probably GMO Skittles too. The cows that eat them are pump with steroids and when they die, they feed the corspe or that roided up Skittle cow and feed it to other cows. Ad that's what ends up on our plates.

I've found that I'm physically more capable when my body fat is around 18-22% as opposed to something less.

Interesting. I've recently gotten down to around 10% and the lower I get the weaker I feel even though I have significant muscle mass.

this. I actually feel better not being ripped. 15-25% bodyfat I feel better. stronger and more horny. Some people claim below only below  8% is where it gets unhealthy. I disagree

Yeah pissed off cows is hilarious if you forget they can knock you over and stomp on you and kill you.
Obviously that's never happened but I did have the bull headbutt me from over the fence for giving the girls onion grass and not him. Got me under the chin and about knocked my ass out  Usually with those lazy domestic fat asses it was normally just alot of insistent mooing and nudging. They are alot like dogs really. They'll nudge you for a scratch behind the ears too.

I love them and I miss them. I hope one day to get a cow or 2 again but taking care of them can be alot of work and I honestly dunno if I could do it anymore.
Then again if I had enough money I really wouldn't have to do much work. Machines can cut, bail, and move hay. I mean we had a tractor but because of the way things were situated I'd have to carry in the 50lb square bails or sometimes during a particularly hard winter, or if one of the cows were pregnant, we'd buy one of the big round bails which weigh more than 1000lbs. We could get it about 50 ft from the gate with the tractor but from there it had to be rolled in by hand. ...tipped on the side and then rolled in by hand.

Oh yes I would have to situate things very differently... my shoulders ache just thinking about this...

Even medium sized dogs can maul people pretty easily if inclined. Bigger animals like cows can straight up trample people

But I imagine their behavior is pretty cute until they knock you on your ass  Glad to hear that us all the bull did to you!

It's funny how much in common many animals have, even people when you really look at us.

Taking care of a farm let alone the animals would be a ton of work I bet. I would love to work up to it one day and or have a communal farm so the workload is more manageable and we can get the most out of it. Machines are certainly making everything easier as does modern medicine I bet. Not to mention all the great fertilizers and plant supplements so you can grow some amazing plants.

Carrying huge bails like that sounds burly! I would probably have to work up to that  The worst I have to deal with are huge bags of dirt and heavy wet pots.

Wow.... Can't say I am surprised but that is still pretty strange.

I wonder if mostly peeves by it or if it actually is tasty.

Seems human milk would be healthier for humans then cow milk when you think about it...

They have multiple stomachs and process things much differently. Still I wouldn't really consider breast milk  thankfully coconut and other milks are amazing so I may never have to consider it :tongue2:

http://www.odditycentral.com/news/australian-cattle-farm-claims-feeding-cows-chocolate-is-the-secret-to-tastier-beef.html
"They say chocolate makes everything better, and apparently premium wagyu beef is no exception. For the past 10 years, the Mayura Station Farm in southern Australia has been feeding its full-blood wagyu cattle chocolate and other sweets mixed with their regular feed, and the results have been spectacular.

When Scott de Bruin, managing partner at Mayura Station, returned to his father’s farm in the Limestone coast of Australia, in 1998, he knew he wanted to do something special to make their beef stand out from that of other luxury cattle farms around the world. But he didn’t know exactly how he was going to do that, so he consulted a cattle nutrition specialist from Japan and spent two years experimenting with different feed before deciding on the final daily ration for his wagyu cows – a special mix of regular feed, chocolate, gummy bears, strawberries and cream flavored gummy snakes. Each cow eats up to 2 kilograms of ground and partially broken chocolate delivered by Cadbury’s every day.

chocolate-fed-cows2

Adding chocolate to the daily diet of cows at Mayura Station started out as a simple experiment, but it ended up making their luxury beef one of the most appreciated in the world. “Many of my customers come to enjoy Mayura beef two to three times a week. They love how the beef has the perfect balance of fat, rich flavor and tender texture,” Michelin star chef Umberto Bombana told Forbes Magazine.

Shane Osborn, Head Chef and Co-Owner of Arcane Restaurant in Hong Kong, added that its unique sweetness, hint of nuttiness and buttery texture make Mayura beef “the ultimate steak”.

chocolate-fed-cows

Photo: Mayura Station

Although he first started feeding his cattle chocolate in 2006, Scott de Bruin claims that he only realized how important it was to the quality of the meat in 2010, when he decided to take it out of the animals’ diet to make the meat pinker and more marbled. Two months later, clients started phoning in and asking ‘What have you done? Your Wagyu doesn’t taste like it used to anymore’. So de Bruin immediately reverted to including chocolates again.

De Bruin says he begins feeding calves chocolate when they are 30 months old, but only a bit of it, with the ration increasing the closer they get to the slaughterhouse. “The last two rations are about producing as much marbling as we possibly can, so that’s why they consume such a high-calorie ration,” he told VICE Munchies. “Think about it. If you eat a lot of chocolate, you’re probably marbled really well.”

chocolate-fed-cows3

Photo: Mayura Station

Asked if the milk chocolate has a negative effect on the cattle’s health, Scott de Bruin says “No, unlike humans – who may start eating chocolates at a very young age for over several decades – these cattle (raised on chocolates for only four months) won’t see the long-term negative effects of chocolates in their system.”

“People ask me about the ethics of feeding chocolate to cows. But they’re not on a long timeline here, they are going to go to baby cow heaven soon, but this way they are happier and taste better,” the Mayura Station manager said. “All I can say is that in those last four months, they are really, really happy cows.”

chocolate-fed-cows4

Photo: Mayura Station

As you can imagine, Mayura luxury beef is not cheap. Forbes reports that a 10.5oz-steak sells for $288, but those who can afford it claim it’s worth every penny.

Interestingly, feeding cattle chocolate and other sweets is not unheard of. In 2012, a surge in corn prices forced farmers to feed their cows chocolate, gummy sweets and marshmallows, since their four stomachs help them digest pretty much anything, but Mayura Station is the only one using the unusual feed to enhance the flavor of the beef."
