The first incident occurred when he was a puppy and my girlfriends and neighbors doors were right besides each other. Bad timing. He is a protective dog, but certainly a safe pet. We have a muzzle now. The last incident occurred when he was outside on his tiedown leash and a kid approached him. Very minor bite but mostly scared the kid.

He is licensed due to my girlfriend having a legitimate medical disability. On his paperwork, it says he cannot be denied even at a no pet policy apartment. But obviously with this impending charge, I could see it raising some eyebrows. How are we going to be able to bring him anywhere if no one excepts him? The only way I can see it working is if the license prohibits them from denying us. Otherwise, I don't know what to do

I have an idea if they refuse him though. our dog will stay at her parents for now. We move into a new apartment without the dog. They do the background check but see we don't have a dog anymore. Then after awhile, we bring the dog back and notify the leasing office we have a new dog. And also registered as her ESA.

I know what you're thinking and yes, I'm a shady motherfucker. But I'm kinda stuck in the middle here. I wasn't home either time the bites occurred and she refuses to live without the dog. Gotta find a way to cheat the system I suppose

Landlords get around this sort of thing all the time by saying they found someone else with better credit, better references, willing to pay higher rent... If he really doesn't want to rent to you he won't.

Well, if they won't allow our dog, then I'm assuming most places won't allow him either. So I may have to leave the dog at her parents for now. Until we can figure something out and move anyways.

But it is very frustrating because it was her carelessness that caused this, yet she's too stubborn to even entertain the very real possibility that he can't come with us. Complete denial. So then I'm left with talking to people online instead about it... :teareally:

But if you leave the dog with her parents, won't the disorder come back??

Dude if you knew this dog, youd be surprised. He's scares of his own shadow haha. Doesn't even bark, like at all. He's so polite that when I give him a treat, he just stares at it, then me and waits. He truly is a wonderful dog. And it's a damn shame this has happened to him. I'm pretty upset with my girlfriend for letting this happened. But she's already really torn up about it all and feels guilty. Sucks to see this happen to her. But honestly she did it to herself. There are somethings she just doesn't take care of or do well. Love the girl, but shit like this was gonna catch up with her eventually.

I love this dog a lot and want to fight to get him back. But idk how at this point. Tender situation... create a good illusion.. feel the grip of your salvation. Yeah dude, this is really, a tender situation

clearly she was too careless to properly train the dog as well. it's people like her
that give breeds of dogs bad names. train the dog and tell people to stay away.

Our new neighbors have a "service dog" that has attacked six others already. It's obviously not an emotional or physical support animal. It doesn't fear bite, it always goes for dogs necks and kids hands/heads. It's a black lab. I've had pit bulls and rotties sweet as angels. I hope there's some law they're breaking and they get caught because from what I've seen, I bet the service vest is fake, and they're gonna hurt someone or kill someone else's companion.

I totally get why some dogs legitimately are dangerous and need to either be put down or kept away from the public. My dogs incident is 100% my girlfriends fault. He doesn't deserve to sufffer, but I agree she shouldn't be able to keep him if she doesn't learn to control or train him. If anything, he needs a new owner or to give complete control over to me. Which is what I'm hoping will happen.

At this point, I just have to wait and see what happens. And hope she learns to accept the consequences so we can learn from it and move on. All this stress could have been avoided. I'm hoping she will at least let us move into an apartment without the dog for now. And find a way to either cope or adhere to the responsibility if we eventually get him back.

She might also dump you so she can stay with the dog at her moms

Youve been warned

because of changes in the laws a few years ago it allowed for tens of thousands of
people to get the service dog status for their untrained pet so they could do as
they please without repercussions, it's actually doing a lot more harm than good for
those that legitimately need service animals

put the girlfriend down, tell her to stop the bullshit service animal game because
the dog is untrained, that ot make her train the dog, legitimately train the dog
so it will qualify as a service animal and she isnt just some selfish, self
centered cunt that's willing to keep up the pretense until the point the courts
force her to put the dog down. if she loves this dog she will put in the effort to
train it

There is another solution with what to do with the dog.

If we magically are able to get him back and move in with us to a new apartment, I will tell her to train him legitimately as a service dog. Otherwise, he will have to live at her parents, the shelter or be put down.
