Unusual about this coin is that Lady Liberty is portrayed by the US Mint as a black woman.
Americans, is this an issue for you? A lot of people were quite upset with this for various reasons.
Vote, and discuss.
.
The portrayal is not an an issue at all.
I am not a fan of the "IN GOD WE TRUST" part. That would be an issue, if I were to have an issue with that coin.

Easy fellas. Not accusing anyone here of being racist.
But you can imagine the shit storm that would ensue if they didn't specify their intent of the woman's race.

Given the history of the US, putting a black women on a coin labeled "Liberty" pretty much insults every African American. Only a white guy would come up with this. I can imagine black people being seriously offended by this.

there was a thread on it here, already, when it was first announced. the controversy was that there needed to be a black woman on there at all.
if i remember correctly, the first suggestion for the minting was Harriet Tubman- which was, again, part of the controversy. she was to replace Andrew Jackson on some US bill.
did that end up happening, or was that idea scrapped, only to be nudged into this new coin?
i can't be sure. but this is what appears to be the case.

Im not American and I don't have anything against black people but lady liberty is clearly not black. It seems like just another way to appease black people

Was there controversy on this? Racial controversy? Who is lady liberty? Was she white?
I think black are part of a group that has gained much from America's dominance and freedoms
I see nothing wrong with this except the part about trying to make it controversial, aka race baiting

I don't think it was necessary to change the face of lady liberty, but i am not upset. Just don't change lady justice.

Apart from the mint's stated intent, ANYONE can tell her ethnicity.
Willful ignorance.

Only thing I don't like is the star headband. Could have been made a little smaller.
And why did they make it a gold coin? Why not silver? Isn't that more traditional for liberty coins?
The Sacagawea coin was gold. Maybe the US mint is racist and only printing colored people on colored coins.
