Spawn bag w/ Both Manure and Woodlover strains
    #24025635 - 01/20/17 01:12 PM (7 years, 10 days ago)

Just started my first grow with a critical error: not labeling my LC spore syringes. Consequently, I accidentally inoculated a manure-based all-in-one grow bag (out-grow) with a woodlover strain before realizing my mistake and inoculating again with a manure-preferring strain moments later. I want to exclusively grow the manure-preferring strain as I already have another bag made for woodlovers for a future outdoor tek.

Inoculations were done into the rye layer of the bag, but I have no idea how fast each strain will germinate/grow comparatively. As I understand it, the woodlover strain will still grow inefficiently in the manure layer and will not fruit at all once put into the warm fruiting conditions of the manure-preferring strain. This will be wasted space in my fruiting environment.

I'm seeking advice for what measures I can take to reduce woodlover mycelial growth in favor of manure-prefering mycelial growth in either the rye or manure layers of the bag. It has been less than 24 hours since the inoculation mishap so germination hasn't occurred. Any advice for selectively germinating manure-preferring over woodlover strains in rye would help as well.

fruit it, then when its done with bury it in a pile of woodchips outside and see if the other culture fruits

That's the plan if I can't do anything to promote selectivity pre-fruiting.

I would start over, and never use a premade bag if you want success anyway

I'm just a first-time cultivator trying to take baby steps. With some MS syringes and a print, I first started with these all-in-one bags but decided to also start some agar plates. Now I think I'll use tissue grown from the plates to isolate a mono-culture while using the leftovers from the dishes to inoculate some grain, first some rye grass seed which I've read can fruit straight out of a plastic container similar to a PF cake, then some rye grain to try a mono-tek in the future. While in the fruiting chamber, I could remove colonized cakes from the plastic container to roll on a casing instead of layering on one while in the container, but I'm not sure if that really matters for yield.

I think I will try to fruit the all-in-one bags in the simplest ways to try to learn about fruiting chambers as my experiments with grains get colonized. I've read about SGFC's made from plastic bins, or simpler, bottles, or even simpler, bubble wrap.

Learning about Fruiting chambers will be a lot easier with successful methods. I suggest using suggested methods and teks and ones with proven success behind them.

There's not much to lean when your all in one bag fails.

Do you have anything left of the syringe with the manure preferring mycelium?

You could probably just heat the whole bag up, to kill the wood lover, and then reinoculate with the right mycelium. You shouldn't need to do more than pasteurise it to get a sterile bag again, since the mycelium is pretty sensitive to high temperatures.

That might stimulate some of the endospores in the grains though.

Mush luck to you man.
